Does this freezer thermometer also check the temperature inside the refrigerator section (not freezer section)?

Asked by: jay
Yes it does Jay; however, the color background areas which indicate the acceptable temperature ranges for the refrigerator and freezer are a dull blue and a grey color. For me, they are "extremely" difficult to see. I need to take the thermostat out of the refrigerator to get a better look, but then the thermometer's temperature quickly moves toward room temperature--as one would anticipate. They would have been better off using an all white background with red markings on the dial for the refrigerator and the freezer temperaturre ranges.

Are These Very Accurate?

We bought two of these and placed them side by side in the fridge. After three hours, one reads 50 F and the other reads 42 F. Obviously, one or both are inaccurate. I just placed a mercury thermometer by them. I see that they are adjustable, or are they just inaccurate junk?
Asked by: gabby
I have had my new refrigerator/freezer for one full day now and during that period (as everyone knows) adjustments in the refrigerator's thermostat(s) "may" need to be made to customize actual temperatures. It is really great that people like Slick want to know about the accuracy of this or any refrigerator thermometer as it is so very important for health reasons alone to have food maintained at proper temperatures during storage. I relied on the testimonies (reviews) of other Home Depot product reviewers who gave this item a very high rating due to its accuracy and, now that I own and am engaged in using this product, I have found that as I make even "slight" adjustments to my new refrigerator's "separate" refrigerator and freezer thermostats, this thermometer will rise or fall appropriately when these "slight" adjustments are made.

How long should I leave Thermostat in Freezer to get adequate reading?

Asked by: Bill
Thanks for your question, Bill! We would recommend leaving the thermostat in the freezer for at least 30 minutes to an hour. We hope this information is helpful to you. –Thanks!-
