      Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your interest in the Homelite 17 in. 2.7 Amp Electric Hedge Trimmer. This tool weighs 4.2 pounds so if the otherbrand weighs 4 pounds then this one is only .2 pounds more. The other brand may have rounded to the nearest pound or they may use a part that weighs less than what we use. Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing that information. Thank you for asking, if you have further questions and would like to speak with a Homelite Customer Experience Professional, all contact services are available Monday- Friday from 9am to 6pm (est) to contact us toll free please call 800.242.4672. Piece of Junk
Pay the extra money and buy something hung that will cut your work time by at least half. This trimmer is unable to cut clear through the thinnest of new growth. Leaves a very jagged finish and has to be gone over repeatedly. Very disappointed.

I bought this product at the beginning of the summer. Seemed like a good price. Unfortunately, I think I must've got a lemon. First time I used it: it ended up freezing and stopped working after 1 large bush. Since this is my first trimmer (first summer as a homeowner), I wasn't sure if this was normal and just thought maybe I overused it. Second time I used it: I was able to do three bushes. Bushes looked fine after this use. Third time I used it: It wouldn't operate and then upon closer inspection, my blades was warped right in the middle! I just sent a ticket through the Homelite website - based on other reviewers on here, it sounds like they won't do anything about the warped blade on the warranty. I wish I listened to my gut and returned it after the first use to Home Depot. If Homelite doesn't support their warranty, I will junk this one and pick up a B&D.

No Frills Small Electric Hedge Trimmer
I had been trimming my small bushes with a hand pruner that was taking me a couple of hours to trim each bush along with hand cramping. I needed an inexpensive electric or battery operated trimmer to improve the amount of trimming time and alleviate my hand cramping and this trimmer met my needs. I can now trim 4 bushes in the same amount of time I used to trim one bush, and without my hand cramping. The trimmer is easy to hold and simple to operate but has no additional features such as varying blades or speeds and is limited only up to 3/8 in. cutting capacity. It seems sturdy enough and has a 2 year warranty.

              Works excellent and great price
It was very affordable and works excellent. I have used it to do several large cleanup jobs which involved trimming long hedges and misc plants. It cut well, lightweight and easy to use. Also very sharp and powerful. The only thing I didnt like was that it doesnt have the ability to lock in the on position. The button has to be held for the duration. Overall it was great. Pic attached of one project I did with it.

              Hedge damager
Serious design flaw in the blades. The blade ends are rounded (I assume this major error is to appease safety concerns). This rounding causes the device to beat and bash hedges without actually cutting them. I had to make numerous passes to effect cutting. After using this item on my hedges they all presented dead brown ends where the bashing occurred. I threw the device away so no one else would abuse their hedges with it. Look for a trimmer that has squared ends on the teeth. These rounded ends damage your plants. Never buy this item.
