Haven't needed mine repaired but I noticed that there are regular two cycle engine parts on this equipment. I have a good Brigggs and Sratent repair shop close by and I would take it there.

The trimmer is light weight, easy to assemble, and fairly powerful for its size. I live off grid and can disassemble the trimmer for easy storage. The wire spool is easy to rewire and is superior other, obsolete, versions. The trimmer starts easy, runs very well considering what I'm asking it to do. I'm using it to clear previously untouched land, a trimmers worst nightmare, and it's taking it like a champ. I'm very satisfied with this product and feel it's an excellent value for $100

Light weight, easy to load the twine and comfortable to handle. At that price, you can get 3 maybe 4 of these and still get the same results as the $$$$ pricey brands.

I could have "bump fed" that thing until I drilled a whole in my driveway before that string would have came out. Instead of being wound from center to outside in a manner that would allow the string to extend due to centrifugal force, this string was wound over and under itself almost in a braided way, making it absolutely impossible to unwind even by hand with a pair of needle nose pliers. I had to use a pair of wire cutters and cut several segments of wire off the spool until I could untie the string completely. And since this pretty much destroyed the entire string I will have to run back to the hardware store today for more string. Either that or I replace the head with an aftermarket head THAT ACTUALLY WORKS which is what I have always done in the past. I was not surprised that it didn't work correctly, I am however shocked at the lack of quality of assembling the "Easy-loading bump feed string head" and the lack of quality control on Homelite's part. It makes me shudder when I ponder what else they are overlooking in quality control. I am very displeased with Homelite.

Hello, KnotsInMyRope - We are very sorry to hear that the bump-feed string head was not advancing the line like it should! This is frustrating and not the experience we want for you. Please be on the lookout for an email from our support team at reviews@homelite.com. We'd like to hear more about your experience and work on turning this around. Homelite

Very lightweight and well balanced. Easy to start. Powerful. Affordable. This is my 2nd one. First one still runs excellent after a year although I had to replace thottle cable in 6 months. I use in lawncare business so they get massive usage. Was using first one as edger also so it had double duty. Just wanted another for backup and now I also have an edger. Only negative is that gas tank could be bigger. I was going to buy an echo yet the quality and performance of the first one (and the price) led me to buy another of this same one .

Easy to assemble and use; my only complaint is with the throttle design. There is a shaft mounted throttle actuator for the operator to change engine speed, but it is EXTREMELY sensitive; just the normal motion of moving the machine back and forth to make a cut caused the throttle to go from idle to half way open making it extremely difficult to regulate speed. It became so difficult that I disassembled the unit in my shop. The actuator cable attaches to the throttle arm on the carb at ~11:00 and very close to the pivot. The cable pulls nearly straight down (~7:00 position) so there is almost leverage causing the operator to squeeze the trigger harder to leave idle position. When it finally overcomes the tension of the spring, it shoots rapidly to ~9:00 position, or roughly half open which is usually too much throttle. Since the cable is attached so close to the pivot, even very small movements of the actuator create significant changes in throttle position. I remedied the situation by installing a ~3/8" flat piece of brass from the 12:00 position pointing horizontally to the left and reattaching the throttle cable at the other end of this extension. This took about 1 hour and required some precision machining. Fixed the problem completely: The throttle actuator now has plenty of leverage as it is ~0.4" away from the pivot, and even though the cable still pulls straight down, the throttle comes smoothly out of idle and is very easy to regulate. Because of the added effective length of the throttle arm, the speed is much less sensitive to small movements of the actuator, but full open throttle is no longer achievable, which isn't really necessary anyway (~1/2 to 3/4 throttle is ripping fast). This is such a fundamental design flaw it's hard to imagine how this ever got to market. Doesn't HomeLite have real users test these things before manufacturing them (I used to own and operate a manufacturing business)? The factory could easily correct this with no increase in material costs. I hope their engineers read this...

Love the easy load head, a lot like an Echo Speed Feed 400. Super lightweight. Decent power, good for grass. I have run the guts out of these on thick weeds, and I can tell you that they aren’t meant for that but take the abuse. The guard isn’t the best, it doesn’t block debris too great and the way it attaches to the shaft is terrible. It is held on with a singe pop rivet. I have broken that rivet 4 different times and there is nothing you can do to fix it. I just took it back to the store and they replaced it each time no questions asked. I also like that it comes with a bottle of 2 cycle oil and 2 extra refills of trimmer line in addition to the line that comes pre-loaded. All around great trimmer. Would highly recommend.
