    Received damaged but still works
I received the AC unit and the moment I unboxed and removed the wrapping, I noticed a gap in the side panel. It is a noticeable gap but fortunately does not effect the performance of the unit. Although the unit still works fine, its just very disappointing and irritating knowing a visible gap is there. It was easy to install but the adhesive and non adhesive seals provided were not long enough to seal my bedroom window. I would still recommend this product as it performs as it should and performs well. We are able to sleep like a baby at night since the room is very cool.

I bought this unit to replace an old portable air conditioner that was dying. It had lasted me over 12 years. It wasn't pretty, it got louder each year but it was a work horse! It was also only 10,000 BTU's. This Honeywell unit was a huge disappointment. The output on high is extremely low. It took hours to decrease the room temperature two degrees. It also make a horrific buzzing sound. Similar to a bad florescent light fixture. I don't understand what happened to making a quality product? If I purchase something, I expect it to work well, period. I ordered online for delivery since I live in a third floor condo and had no way of lugging it up 5 flights of stairs. Now I am left trying to figure out how to get it down the stairs and to the store to return. As others have stated, the 4ft hose can be a little short. It wasn't a big issue for me since I vent out my slider and didn't need it to be super long but that could be an issue for others. Extremely cheap materials and absolutely doesn't cool the room size as advertised. No wonder it was a "special buy". If you need a large area cooled, skip this one!

We are sorry to hear this ! Our portable air conditioners work best in enclosed, well insulated spaces. Though this unit can effectively cool a space of up to 700 sq. ft, room environment conditions such as ceiling height, sunlight, number of windows/ doors and level of insulation can affect cooling efficiency and there are ways to increase the capacity of these units. There could be other reasons for the unit to not cool- the temperature setting on the thermostat could be too high, or the exhaust hose may need re-installation.
Like any other electrical device, this AC will also create some sounds when operating due to the powerful compressor working to cool the space you need it to. The length of the exhaust hose is determined, keeping in mind the amount of air it can expel, and we do not recommend extending the exhaust hose.
Our customer support team will be able to look in to all your concerns and troubleshoot for you. Powerful, Easy to use, Relatively quiet
The unit is fairly heavy, but the wheels make it easy to move around. Was relatively quite, especially in fan-only mode. When compressor is on, just a bit more noisy, but tolerable.

Easy to setup (10 min), easy to move the unit around the house. Fairly quiet operation. The automatic switch off when the water (from condensation) pan is full removed the need to constantly check the water level. Overall, a well designed unit. Great value

Easy to install and quite unit. It is not as efficient as window unit. In my case, I had to do modification to discharge grill in order to fit in my window. Differently, it can’t cool 550 square foot of space. Probably function well for area under 300 square foot.

This is an incredibly easy air conditioner to set up. It is also a fan and dehumidifier. Have it delivered! It weighs quite a bit. But know that during shipment on this one, it cracked a piece of the window liner frame. I was able to super glue it with some clear tape in place to gap fill the affected area. It was not a big deal, but also did not arrive in pristine condition. Other than that, everything is user intuitive and easy to put together. I had to trim one end of the window liner that has the hole in it to fit our windows. I used a pair of kitchen scissors to do it. It was easy. I only had to trim a few inches. On a side note, if you buy two for whatever reason, save the window liner! It can come in handy if you cut it down to size and only have to work with two parts of the same extension piece instead of trimming both to size. It comes with a remote control along with what you see on the control panel. The numbers and tasks being performed on the remote control don't have a back light and can be a little difficult to see if your eyes are not in the best of shape. The main functionality for me using the remote is the sleep setting. You can start it up while laying bed and across the room and initiate it for comfort during a hot night. The numbers on the unit however are in very large print -- major plus! I primarily use if for the air condition, but have also used it for the cooling fan just to circulate the air. The best feature is it is auto-evaporating! The only time you really need to use the plug to let out water collection is in the dehumidifier setting. To turn it on, have it only plugged into a wall outlet -- no power surge protectors or power strips! And to clean it, you pop off the grill in the back after every two weeks worth of use to get the dust off of it. Other than that, the directions say to keep it covered during long stretches of non-active use. I will probably just put a trash bag over it. One caveat, the cord is only 6ft long. I wish it were longer. Not every home has an outlet next to a window! I would like to be able to use it in different rooms, but can't. The cord also wraps around a coil for storage. It is not as big as I anticipated either. It is only about 32 inches tall and approximately 19 inches wide. With the wheels, it just glides around the house -- even on carpet. The noise I felt was on par with what you might get in a windowed conditioner. It was no louder or quieter than ones you may experience in a hotel room. If noise is an issue for you, you can set it to high (noisiest at times, but most powerful) to medium to low (quietest and but takes longer to cool the room). I primarily use this, even in not warm weather, at night to go to sleep with. I will set it about two hours before bedtime to 65 degrees (never have been able to get it to 60) and by the time I walk in....the room is cold, the pillows are chilled, and sleeping awaits. The bed room is approximately 15x15, so only 225 square feet and it is cool within 90 minutes and at temperature within 2 hours, when starting in a room of 75-80 degrees. If it were not for the cord length (and with no use of an extension cord) and receiving the window liner (which I fixed), it is definitely a 5 star item. But because of those two issues I had to rate it a 4 star item. I wish there was one in the middle at 4.5 stars to say almost perfect. Overall impression out of the box -- you won't be disappointed.

For starters, very attractive unit...glossy white against rich black, modern, “swervy” styling. The HL series comes in several color combos, I like the blue/white & grey/white, also. On the low fan cooling setting, it's very quiet, compressor & fan not very loud. In cooling mode, fan is on all the time...I don't like that, wish it shut off when the compressor did (a lot of dehumidifiers are like that, also). Air blower vent opens & closes automatically with power on/off. They SAY the vent is manually adjustable for directional airflow, after auto opening, but I couldn't see that is made much difference, unless I practically closed it...still blew virtually straight up. The vent hose & window bracket are well-constructed pieces...hose itself is a little thin...it comes completely assembled, unlike previous versions I've seen. The upper back filter screen cover is a little iffy...very thin, plus it snaps into place a little too snugly, feels like you'll break it pulling it out. And like another reviewer of the HL line, I wish there was a screen over the outside exhaust port...critters & such...please send me one if you ever make one, Honeywell. Controls are straightforward & easy, having a remote control is a nice bonus. The window bracket is designed for sliding windows, & you will want to use some clear weatherization tape to cover small gaps, due to the design of it...pretty standard stuff. Note: both ends of the exhaust hose, once they're clipped into place, won't come off very easily, so you might want to be reasonably sure before you do it. I plan on using this unit just for cooling, so can't tell you anything about the dehumidifier, other than, the dehumidifier needs to be continuously drained, while the air shouldn't need to be drained at all, in most cases. A couple things...I had a problem with the fan blowing out sour smelling air when the compressor kicked off (remember, the fan runs continuously). Also, the box it came in was pretty mishandled during shipping, including broken styrofoam inserts, tho' the unit itself wasn't damaged. I contacted the company about both things, & never heard back from them.............Soooo.... This unit was $499 when I got it. I haven't installed it to a window yet, still weighing my options.

I got this for my sunroom which gets stifling hot in the summer. I didn't want to put in a traditional window air conditioner because of the noise so I got this. I'm very pleased with the noise level. It has three speeds and even on high is not loud and actually sounds pleasant. It also works as just a dehumidifier which is great if it's not too hot but is just muggy. It's easy to set up with the attached hose which fits into a window. It has simple to use controls along with a handy remote. It seems to put out a lot of cold air, however it's not summer here yet so that will be the true test on how well it functions-but I feel it's going to get the job done.

An easy way to have a cool, dry and comfortable basement. Our basement windows are too small to accommodate an AC so in the hot summer months our basement feels like either a hot wet steam room or, if we use our dehumidifier, a hot dry sauna. Yuk! But we're excited that the Honeywell HL series portable air conditioner is going to be our solution to having a basement that’s both dry AND cool. The 12,000 BTU model is rated to have plenty of cooling power for our space. After letting it settle for an hour, as per the instructions, I ran it through its paces testing all the settings. The blower is strong and not too loud. The fan speed options are low, medium or high (high speed being the loudest but not uncomfortable so). The mode options are cool (with auto evaporate), dry (dehumidify) and fan. Some models have a heating feature which ours does not. The packaging included: the portable air conditioner (about 65lbs), a hand-held remote (with batteries), a window bracket kit, a drain tube for the option of continuous draining when in Dry mode), the owner’s manual and the exhaust hose fully assembled with the necessary connectors at each end. Overall, it’s straightforward to operate and the displays and their functions are self-explanatory. There are useful features like the easy-glide castor wheels that make it very easy to maneuver, an on/off timer, removable dust filters to wash off and a remote that mirrors the same control as the on-board control panel. It does have a special (and I thought reasonable) consideration: because the unit produces hot air as it cools, the hot air needs to be vented to the outside. This can be done easily using their window bracket kit with the exhaust hose snapping into the bracket-kit easy-peasy. But something to keep in mind is that the exhaust hose can reach a window or vent (or any opening that will vent the hot air to the outside) that’s roughly four feet from the bottom of the unit. That’s not that far away. I needed to reach a distance of six feet so I called customer support looking to buy an extension. It turns out that you can’t extend or add-onto the exhaust hose because the exhaust hose is EXACTLY the length it needs to be for the AC unit to function properly. They recommend to either raise the AC or find a different window/vent to the outside.
