Good Thermostat
I bought this thermostat to replace a circa 2000 Honeywell non-programmable when that thermostat decided to randomly run the cool cycle all night long. The new thermostat had good instructions; the most important one for me being the step stating to take a picture of the previous installation before removing it. I installed the T5 and wired it up, and turned it on. Unfortunately, it wasn’t really blowing very cold. Let it run all night before I factory reset it and tried a different setting for the O/B wire. This ran all heat even though it said cold. After my stubbornness faded, I went back and looked at the picture I took and realized that I wired the white wire to W1 instead of W2. The thermostat was working perfectly but I wired it up wrong for my heat pump. I corrected the error and all is very well. Programming Is easy through the app as was the config, which I went through at least 5 times before I found the wiring issue. I would definitely recommend this thermostat.

    Unless you enjoy the Public Utility Company controlling when you can & cannot run the A/C then this product is for you. However if you want control, then may I suggest you leave Wi-Fi thermostats on the shelf.

    Don’t purchase this thermostat unless you want a big headache and possibly be out another $100 in diagnostics. I removed the old year 2009 OEM thermostat which worked fine and installed the T-5+ as stated in the instructions. Once completed the T-5+ sent out heat in my ducts while in the A/C mode. I then called technical support whom walked me through a set of test’s without success. The tech stated that I needed a local HVAC technician to review my T-5+ installation & HVAC System. I hired the local HVAC tech whom spent 1.5 hours testing everything and trying out other solutions but nothing changed. The tech had to move on to his next appointment and charged me $111.00 for the visit and nothing changed. I once again called Honeywell technical support at the same previous phone number and was told no one there knew how my T-5+ installs & operates and gives me a new 800 number to call. I call that number and told that I’m 9th in line to talk to a tech and I don’t have the time to wait. I call back 3 hours later and told I’m 3rd in line. I wait and a tech named Jason finally takes my call. He runs me through several tests to no avail, my HVAC system is still blowing out heat while the T-5+ is on A/C mode, both on my phone and on manual modes. Jason then says the tests indicate my HVAC system is causing the problem, that the system was either out of refrigerant our had a faulty switchover valve. I become very upset with him because everything worked fine before installing the T-5+, I had spent almost all day trying to figure out the problem, and even more importantly out an additional $111 for the local tech. I told Jason that I would re-install the old thermostat to get my HVAC system back to normal and return the T-5+ to store. Jason states that re-installing the old thermostat will not work and I will have the same condition as the T-5+ just to show that he is right. I hang up, then re-install the old thermostat and my HVAC system works well, having A/C in the A/C mode and heat in the heat mode (see photos). I will never purchase another Honeywell product because of this experience.

      I have installed the T5 in my home and really like it. I purchased this for a friend based on my liking the T5 (the T5+ predecessor). I tried for an hour to get this thing to connect to his WiFi and Honeywell Home account. I finally broke down and called support. After support had me disable the cell signal, we were able to connect it to his WiFi, but were unable to add it to his Honeywell app account - a requirement to control it through the app. Honeywell Home converted to Resideo this year and has had intermittent outage ever since the switch due to "maintenance on the servers". I will try again soon to add the device to his app account and update this review accordingly. What I Like: -Simple interface that is easy to see and use -No learning but easy to schedule -Outside temp (new to T5+) -Supposed to auto switch from Heat to A/C (new to T5+) -App is easy to use
