Questions & Answers

Asked by zoey November 11, 2020

According to the use and care manual, a PDF of which can be found on the Home Depot product listing page under the header "Info and guides" The triangular symbol is called the alert warning. It goes on when the battery is low. Typically it would say "BATT" next to it. However it the battery is fully discharged that may not be visible. Thus I would suggest you replace the batteries in the thermostat. That process is also outlined on the same document. Traditionally thermostats did not have batteries nor need them. However as manufacturers added an ever increasing number of functions, they exceeded the power available in the thermoset wires. Supplemental power from batteries became necessary. Dead thermostat batteries are the biggest cause of no heat calls this time of year. It gets cold but the heat does not come on because the batteries went partially dead over the summer. People will see some action in the thermostat and assume the batteries are fine, but they are not. Although the batteries are putting out some power it is just not enough to close the switch and activate the heat.

Asked by bigboyz71 October 26, 2020

What I just did to make sure it worked was the following. I went to the google search engine. I put in the following, "Honeywell T57 manual" The first result in the first position was the Honeywell web site page for that item. On that page was downloadable PDF of the installation manual

How do you reset it.

Asked by Pat August 29, 2020

Not completely sure what you mean by "reset". If you open the "Use and care manual " document found under the header "Info and Guides" on the Home Depot product listing page you will find the programming instructions on page three. It includes directions on how to shut the programming off.

can you program this thermostat with you iphone

They sent me the wrong thermostat

How easy is this to install yourself?

Asked by DIYer June 25, 2020

In my opinion and experience one thermostat is not easier or harder than another. They pretty much all work the same, regardless of the the ridiculous claims made by some brands. Depending on the type of system you have and the methodology that was utilized when it was installed you may have any where from two to eight wires. If you know what each of those wires is for and what they control, the process is as easy as reading the directions an putting the correct wire to the correct port. But as the color codes on the wires are not standardized, if you don;t know what they control it can be extremely difficult and may require an understanding of how the system works in order to determine what wire goes where. Two wire systems are easy. But if the thermostat controls heat and AC this can get very confusing. As a best practice I will often consult the manual for the existing thermostat and use that information to label the wires before I remove it. This makes the installation of the new unit easy.

That is almost always controlled by the brain of the appliance not the thermostat. I would suggest you consult the furnace manual. It should contain an flow chart showing the cascade of operation.

Asked by cj June 5, 2020

I can't without being on site. But it sounds as if it is wired wrong. I would consult the wiring schematic for the furnace.

Keep it Simple!

Display nearly invisible with overhead lighting when the backlight is off. Unintuitive. In the photo what is the animated [ ] trying to tell me? Is it a button for me to push? Not mentioned in the User Guide. If you are going to sell a programmable thermostat it has to be easy to use. Otherwise KISS!

Terrible design
Customer review from logo
Programming instructions are useless. I just use "permanent hold" and manually change the temperature when I want to, but this is a pain in the proverbial. Backlight is useless whether my hall lighting is on or off. Need a flashlight to read the display.

So far so good
I have only had them for a month so I can't speak to longevity. However, in my opinion the programming is simple and and easy. I did not need the manual to do it. We have 3 of them now, and I did have to go to the installers guide for two as the installer left those in the non-programmable mode. It took about 5 seconds to change that once I looked in the guide. Not sure why so many say they are not easy to set up. My last ones were made by Carrier, and in my opinion these are much easier.

Hard to Program
Customer review from logo
This thermostat is not intuitive, and the instructions that came with it only got me more lost. Finally went online and printed out the manual from there -- which had more pages. Took me awhile, but I eventually got it programmed, but it wasn't easy. I had asked the HVAC tech for something that would give me dual heat and A/C, which this does. It never entered my mind that it would take a PhD to program it.

Works great. I mainly bought this thermostat because it has a "FAN CIRC" feature that runs the fan about 30% of the time. I have this circulation feature active always.

Doesn't program correctly
Customer review from logo
The unit will not follow the new program. E.g. the new program is set for a different wake time, yet the T6 still runs the old program. Even after a factory reset, and checking the new program several times, the T6 runs the old program.

This thermostat should no longer be in production. With barely more expensive options available on the market that are simple to use and RELIABLE, pick something else. Ours shorted, caused a heat pump to fail, and the battery died in UNDER 3 MONTHS. Grateful that this was still under HVAC contract. Went with Ecobee Smart Thermostat instead for a reliable, easy to use item. This item is a waste of time/money.
