Questions & Answers

Does the bedbug & flea fogger kill bed bug eggs & larvae?

Asked by: hawk
Nope... it is a waste of money!

Once the fog dispates, do surfaces need to be wiped down? How about the mattress or box spring? Can you just put the sheets on and be fine?

Asked by: Ralf
Ralf, it's not necessary to wipe down surfaces in the treated area. You only need to air out as directed on the label.

Do we have to disconnect the smoke detecters as well?

Instructions state turn off gas and I thought I'd just turn the main breaker to make sure nothing in the house has power to be running but nothing is said about the battery operated smoke alarms. So should I remove the battery from all the smoke alarms? Thanks
Asked by: ramrodbaker
I don't...battery powered stuff doesn't have enough power to spark. They are giving these precautions as the foggers fill your house with a potentially flammable mixture with air though it's my opinion that the probability of reaching the lower flammable limit is low unless you do something really dumb, like placing a fogger right next to a furnace that has a pilot light with the door open . For myself, I don't go so far as killing the main breaker. I do shut down the central air & heat and any fans; you don't want that moving the fog around.

Does this bedbug and flea fogger also kill flea eggs? I need a Hot Shot fogger that kills both the adult fleas and the eggs.

Asked by: rambo2011
Don't use anything made by Hotshot, stuff is garbage at does not kill anything it says.

Customer Reviews

Bed Bug and Flea Killer 2 oz. Aerosol Fogger (3-Pack) is rated 2.6 out of 5 by 526.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from it works i have an 8 room house with a full basement. after finding the "proffessionals" to be outragously over priced i decided to give it a go. i bought these foggers along with the 1 gallon jug of the spray. got rid of all clutter in the house. cleaned and vacuumed the house, sprayed all of the baseboards and heaters with the gallon jug. then set off 1 fogger in each room, 3 in the basement and 2 in each of the 2 halls. the first day after treatment we saw 2 bugs during the day. the next couple of days we saw nothing. then about a week later we saw another one bug. 2 weeks after the first treatment, we repeated the spray and foggers. we used rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle on the beds and put bed bug covers on the mattresses. it has been a few days now with no activity. i will retreat in another 2 weeks whether it needs it or not. i think the key is to get rid of the clutter in your home, empty all of the dresser drawers and vacuum every day, real good. putting the vacuum outside after using it. still cheaper than the exterminator.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works. I have been battling these little devils for over 2 months. Tried all the sprays: Ortho Home Defense, Raid, Good Night, even the Hot Shot spray. They drank them for breakfast. I spent hundreds on a steam cleaning of the entire place, wall to wall. Just excited them more. Vacuumed until the belt broke. Went through three gallons of Chlorox trying to drown them. Went through two gallons of rubbing alcohol trying to beat them back. Nothing worked. Then a friend suggested a different brand of fogger which I could not find locally. And foggers get such a bad review on the web (pest control people masquerading as consumers, no doubt). I saw this product at my local HD and gave it a try with little expectation, really. And it worked! Wiped them out the first go-round. For the first time in two months, those little devils are gone! And BTW, ChrisLSUTiger, the coverage area is stated as 2400 CUBIC feet not 2400 square feet Big difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Serious good if you alter the instructions The box says covers 2000 square feet which will cover most typical houses, so with three cans in the box we are talking 666 square feet per can, however is dispersal pattern is quite small but a nice thick cloud so placement of the cans is important. So instead of thinking cans per square feet you pretty much need one can per room. I live in a 2300 square foot 5 bedroom house and we have fleas every where so I bought 5 boxes for a total of 15 cans: one for each bedroom an multiple for large areas such a living room and dining rooms, long hallways also got a can, open all closets but put masking tape over pantry door so the fog does not enter your food area. Result is a nice thick fog throughout, all fleas are dead!! In a nutshell, even tough the square footage on the can may meet your needs, all the partitions of the walls in your home that make up your rooms will not effectively allow the fog to reach all the areas, so if you figure on one ca per room and 2 cans for large rooms this product works great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Swallow Bugs BEWARE! New to the area, we did not know that swallows carry the cousin to bed bugs...swallow bugs!...and they come in the house in late Winter looking for a meal since the swallows don't arrive until May. Spent a couple grand with an exterminator trying to get them OUT of the house after being bitten. He thought they were bed bugs, but samples sent off to University of Ohio confirmed our suspicion of swallow bugs. Since we still had the bugs after the exterminator, we found the Bed Bug and Flea foggers and the spray. We fogged every two weeks in the attic and basement and sprayed the inside and outside of the house, around doors and windows (which they hang around (totally opposite of bedbugs) and ceiling fixtures as well as electrical outlets. The Bed Bug and Flea foggers not only killed the bugs, but the spray had a residual effect which killed any new invaders or hatchlings. We treated the house for about 12 weeks, every two weeks and then again the following year. NO MORE BUGS! DO NOT ALLOW SWALLOWS TO NEST ON OR NEAR YOUR HOME!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ONLY thing that DID work! We had a problem with bedbugs in my old house last year. I was freaked, because I was pregnant and didnt want the baby to be at our home with that... We paid 300$ for an exterminator.. HORRIBLE, two months later and the bedbugs were still thriving, we had bought a spot spray, for when we saw them, but their numbers were still growing and I constantly was bit at night. We were told about how bad the foggers were, and how it made things worse, but we were at our last straw. Out of options. We fogged each room in the house simultamiously, two foggers per a room, and took all our linens to the laundry while we waited for it to work. A full year later, and no sign of bedbugs. I wish I had done that first, instead of spending 100's on the special stuff that didnt do diddly! lol.

Luckily, Home Depot sells non-toxic Victor glue traps for fleas that work like a charm. The traps don’t get rid of the eggs but neither did this spray.
