Q:Would the golden oak restorer work on a wooden chess board with walnut and golden oak squares?
by|Dec 16, 2022

Answer This Question
A: Yes, Restor-A-Finish Golden Oak can be used on wood pieces with multiple types of wood and colors. Restor-A-Finish should be used in a color that best matches your finish. If you are uncertain about which color to use, then choose a color slightly lighter than your finish. It’s recommended that you test Restor-A-Finish in an inconspicuous spot to make sure you like what it does and how it matches the finish.

A:Â I believe it could if there is not a lot of color restoration needed on the walnut squares. The Golden Oak would restore the luster on the walnut squares just fine but would make only minor changes to the darker color of the walnut. I hope this helps!

New life to my kitchen.
Was considering painting my worn kitchen cabinets. But decided to try this product 1st. It really refreshed my kitchen, cabinets look awesome and it saved me a ton of money. I washed the cabinets with TSP, then rinsed with clear water. I Used the golden oak Restore a Finish. Use steel wool 00 for the more worn areas. I then followed up with the recommended Beeswax.

Pinterest find for the win
I am stunned at how well this works. I bought initially for our kitchen cabinets but decided to try it in our table. White spots. Scuffs. Scratches. This is the best you can get without completing stripping and refinishing. I can’t wait to try it on the cabinets!

Saved me from replacing cabinets
Couldn't of been any easier. Used the 0000 steel wool, as my cabinets were very damaged from 30 years of sun, water and steam. Took off most of the dirt but needed more time and elbow grease on the inside corners. Used golden oak color and they turned out a little darker and less orange than before. Finished with the bees wax afterwards and gave it a shine. The wood was so dry it soaked up a lot of the product. Kitchen looks brand new. No longer need to replace cabinets and only cost $20 for all my supplies.

I applied this finish to outdoor wooden furniture including some pieces that had been in the sun for several summer seasons. The results were dramatic as the color and wood grain enlivened back after being badly washed out by the sun and other outdoor exposure.

Why didn't I find this BEFORE I stained my kitchen cabinets. I study the internet "how to's". I wanted easy, cheap, works well. Not talented but needed to restore furniture without much effort. Prefer saving instead of buying new. Restored tables, bathroom cabinets and antique furniture with Restor-A-Finish (used different colors). Golden Oak worked well for my light colored cabinets. I then added the Bee's Wax that is recommended on the back. Just cleaned off wood with a lightly wet sponge. Made sure dry. Cut up old wash cloth. Used gloves and put on a little heavy following the grain of the wood. As it dries, some scratches will show but they are darker so harder to see. Thus making the wood look new. One tin goes a long way!

Howard Feed-N-Wax 16 oz. wood polish & conditionerHoward Feed-N-Wax 16 oz. wood polish & conditioner is ideal for enhancing the natural depth of grain while providing added protection and luster to furniture, antiques, and cabinets. Feed-N-Wax helps introduce conditioning oils that "feed" the wood while providing a protective coating of beeswax and carnauba wax. Feed-N-Wax can be used on finished or unfinished wood to help preserve and keep the wood from drying out, fading, or even cracking. Feed-N-Wax should be used whenever wood starts to look faded or dry, usually every month or so. Our original blend of beeswax, Brazilian carnauba wax, mineral oil, and orange oil is the perfect product to enhance the natural beauty and depth of grain in all woods, finished and unfinished. Feed-N-Wax was developed as the best follow-up to restore-a-finish for maintaining the newly restored finish. Contains no silicone or linseed oils. Not intended for food-prep surfaces. For food-prep surfaces use Howard Butcher Block conditioner or Cutting Board Oil.View Full Product Description
