Answer This Question
A: Restor-A-Finish should be used in a color that best matches your finish. If you are uncertain about which color to use, then choose a color slightly lighter than your finish. It’s recommended that you test Restor-A-Finish in an inconspicuous spot to make sure you like what it does and how it matches the finish. Walnut color Restor-A-Finish is for all medium brown wood tones.

Do it!
Works great! I was shocked. Water rings, scratches and worn down areas were blended back in beautifully. If it’s superficial damage and wear you’d never notice, if it’s deeper, it blends great but you could still notice a finish difference in certain lighting. I totally recommend this product if you aren’t up for a full refinish job. I bought it for one table and used it on 3 others after I saw how great it was!

I left a plant on a table and it sat there in a puddle of water for a while, I thought it was ruined. I tried to sand it a little bit and then used Restore a Finish on it. It really made the table usable again, I wonder if I would have had better luck if I hadn't tried to sand the mess first, but as you can see if you look at the pictures, it's much better than it was.
I have used this product in the distant past and I was happy with it then also. I would recommend this.

Worked much better than I expected at fixing small scratches, water stains and imperfections. It really refreshed the look of 2 bookcases I have. It couldn’t fix large gashes in the wood but scratches are completely gone and this saved me from having to sand and refinish!

Great alternative to stripping furniture
Used the dark walnut choice to restore a long mid century dresser that now looks almost new. Worked well on scratches, water marks and bold spots. Will not fill deep scratches because it is not of thick consistency but will stain them to the same shade as the rest of the piece.

This product FAR exceeded my expectations. Although I purchased 2 cans at just a little over $8.00 per can, I only needed about half a can. I could not believe my results. I was getting ready to have my cabinets professionally stripped and stained, a costly project which was definitely not in my budget\. Thank you to the very nice gentleman in the paint mixing department who stated that his mother in law loves this product!!

Howard Restor-A-Finish was used to darken-up 1/2 of a grand piano lid that had been badly sun bleached. The Dark Walnut Finish Restorer ONLY was used on the sun bleached area (four coats between 30 minute wait times) after hitting the old sun bleached finish with 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper and wiping it down with a tack-rag. Then the complete top was wiped down with two coats of Howard's Light Walnut Restor-A-Finish, in order to blend both sides together and give the whole surface the same satin luster and patina as the rest of the piano. The result is very satisfying. When the lid is down and the piano is "closed-up", it's nearly impossible to tell that half of the outer surface of the lid was badly sun bleached.
The only other practical alternative for getting satisfactory results like this would have involved stripping the lid, staining the lid, grain filling the wood, spraying the lid with sanding sealer, shading the rest of the piano to match, spraying the whole piano with numerous coats of clear lacquer (wet sanding in between coats) and then hand-rubbing all of the case parts out, to the original satin finish again. That would have also required moving the piano to a refinishing shop ... and then back again.
The piano finish was repaired "in place". The whole job took less than three hours to complete, including wait time between applications. There was little or no dust involved and with proper ventilation, fumes were all but non-existent. Because only two soft cotton cloths were used (actually one old T-Shirt) for applying the Restor-A-Finish and no flammable solvents or thinners were used, clean-up was both quick and safe. The whole job was completed for the cost one sheet of sandpaper and two cans of Howard Restor-A-Finish (with enough left over to do five more similar size jobs) plus one quick afternoon, instead of $3,000-$4,000 and the best part of a month.
