Q:My garage is 30' x 45' with 12-foot ceilings. I live in Alaska and get heavy condensation/ice on the garage windows in the winter. Since my space is larger than 750 sf, what is the appropriate humidex unit for my application?

Answer This Question

A:  First you would multiply the dimensions of the room to calculate the sq. footage… and buy as many of these as you’d want to cover that value.

A:  Hello Greg, Actually, it happens sometime for customers having garages larger than 750 sqft. Since there isn't so far a product designed for double garage, customers facing with this issue usually chose to install two ventilation units side-by-side and this configuration had proven work.

Q:Will this product work in MN winters where temps get 10-20 degrees Fahrenheit below zero? I have a lot of frozen condensation on windows

      Answer This Question

A:  Hello Chris, This garage ventilation system is extremely popular in Canada, where winter conditions are very similar to those in Minnesota. This product was designed to combat the heavy condensation that occurs when cars are parked in closed garages during the winter.

Q:Beyond pulling humid air from the garage and sending it out through the vent, is it also actively pulling outside air in to replace it, or does the less humid air come into the garage due to the pressure difference created from what the fan blows out?

        Answer This Question

A:  Hello Klong, You have described the process of operation of the garage ventilation model perfectly. The negative pressure generated inside the said garage allows the renewal of the air inside it, and also avoids the cross-contamination with the dwelling when the latter is adjacent.

Q:How much humidity can the Humidex GVS-SD2 product remove per day? Can it do so at any temperature or is there a working range of temperatures and efficiency? For instance at 45F and 75% humidity - How much humidity will it be able able to remove per day?

          Answer This Question

A:  Hello Rune, To continue the explanation following your first question, it is not a matter of comparing the functional mode of our product with the hourly capacities of evaporation then evacuation by condensation of the water contained in the air, displayed by the manufacturers of the two technologies mentioned previously. What we have developed is in no way comparable with what you have mentioned. In fact, you are trying to make a comparison between curative systems that consume a lot of energy (from 0.6 up to 1 kWh), and a technology that prevents condensation that only requires 0.03 kWh to control the hygrometric degree of a location.

            Great, not overly complicated product!!!
I ordered this device for my new home garage. I typically install elaborate exhaust systems or HRVs to deal with stale air or humidity in garages. This little product is the perfect solution for people who don't want anything complicated; just a solution that works.

            Hello,
We're very sorry if you have the wrong impression of this product's ability to help you combat excess humidity in your garage. Behind the sometimes simple exterior lies advanced technology to prevent the occurrence of condensation.
If it seems to you that this ventilation unit doesn't accurately measure humidity, it's because its primary effectiveness lies in regulating the relative humidity level inside your garage to constantly monitor the difference between ambient temperature and dew point temperature.

Seems to be operating very well. Installed it about 3 months ago and so far no complaints.
