can I connect multiple 24 inch dowrods to get to 72 inch total?

Asked by Abe June 12, 2019

Answers

They are not meant to be coupled like that. I seem to remember there is a hook or locking pin for in the hole. For 72 inches the fan will need to be well balanced or it will wobble. You could try a length of black iron pipe and drill a hole emulating the 24" length. I don't know if the fan support is straight cut threads or tapered like plumbing. If straight cut, find a source for rigid electrical conduit.

Is this downrod 3/4" outside diameter? I need a downrod with a 3/4" o.d., not a 1" o.d. Thanks!!!

Can I cut a 12” down rod to a shorter length?

Asked by Buzz January 31, 2018

Answers

Short answer yes. Long answer; new threads will have to cut and a hole drilled for a pin on the end with the cut. I don't know if the thread is tapered (NPT) or straight cut (SAE) like used on pipe conduit. If you were going the NPT route I would cut the threads long.

The extension pole was the perfect antique brass color I needed. It installed perfectly on my Hampton Bay fan. I ended up with putting the 5 foot one in and it doesn't wobble at all. Looks and works great!
