I don't see why it couldn't be used for a screen porch install. The coating was very good and did not have any scratches that would allow moisture to impact the finish or function.

Thank you for your question! Unfortunately, this downrod may not work with your Westinghouse fan. Our recommendation is that Hunter downrods should only be used with Hunter fans.

what is the outer diameter of this down rod? Can I use this with a kickler fan needing a 1" outer diamer rod?

Answer

This rod is a 3/4 inch, it wont work with Kickler units. Looking thru HD online offerings I dont see they have any 1 in down rods. You might call customer service for additional help or visit a pro desk for personal attention in a HD store. I dont see Kickler being a HD brand they carry. Check out the manufacture web site for further asistance if HD cant help you. https://www.kichler.com/

Its tough to keep this review civil. This is a fan extension poll. How can this be messed up? Well, this manufacturer found a way. Some one lacking a brain cell placed a 10" paper sticker on the product which obviously has to be removed. Taking it off without some type of solvent is impossible as it comes off in quarter inch pieces. Using solvent (Goof Off) is not much easier as it requires multiple coats. Of course after making a mess and wasting 30 minutes cleaning off the sticker and residue, the continuous scraping removed the paint off of the surface in spots. There are clearly other alternatives to placing the UPC on the product in this manner. One, the manufacturer could use a smaller plastic sticker that is easier to remove. Or better yet, a plastic loop could be used through one of the holes to attach the UPC and product info. Unfortunately due to incompetence, cost cutting, or plain stupidity, the method that is least convenient to the consumer was chosen. Not sure what other competitor options are out there, but I would certainly look for another option.

threading on downrod is too large had to have it taken and rethreaded to get it to thread into fan motor. If I had not needed fan installed that day I would have returned the downrods. When downrod was rethreaded the rod was nicked up a little but I was able to have the install completed for our event the next day.
