Answer This Question

A:  The remote does not have to be pointed directly at the fan, so I think that makes it an RF remote. It works very well!

          Answer This Question

A:  Yes, this fan is compatible with up to a 14 watt LED dimmable bulb in each socket. This fan is not compatible with a slider or dial switch. However, we do offer a wireless wall control that can dim the bulbs. Not perfect but Very Very good!
Bought this for use in n home office; I found best price after shopping at local Home supply store. Install is on par with this style fan; pain in butt to get receiver wired and jammed above hanger but once done it’s good. Fan looks great! This thing MOVES air - 3 settings and I usually only use 1 and 2 . Quiet except on 3 then you get blade noise from moving so much air. Light is dimmable with remote, but can be set and left at desirable brightness. I had to contact customer support to walk me through a remote/fan pairing reset but once done it’s great. Very usable light for average office or bedroom ( 2 led bulbs). Fan looks great, works great! I plan to buy another for spare bedroom. The cons- aggravating install, ugly remote holder, reverse switch is inside glass for bulb cover, so if you plant to reverse you have to remove glass and reinstall( inconvenient) PROS - looks great, works great, plenty usable light

The product was not the easiest fan to install, hence the 4 stars. It had a lot of parts. IT took almost 2 hours. However, the end result is great. It looks beautiful in the room - very sleek and contemporary and not too big for a mid-sized room. The light is not as bright as the light fixture was, but it is the brightest I could find in a ceiling fan. Overall, I am loving the fan. It works great and I love the remote control.

              Nearly perfect
==== First impressions ==== Typical ceiling fan in bronze with brass trim. Quality packaging, as is the usual case with Hunter. ==== Assembly and Installation ==== Typical ceiling fan assembly, takes about 30 minutes with ordinary tools. There was a lot of wobble after installation, so I went through the balancing procedure. It took two tries and two weights on one blade to accomplish it, but after that the operation was completely wobble-free, rock solid on all speeds. I was impressed. See the YouTube video. The lesson here was to not limit yourself to just one attempt at balancing. The assembly was slightly confusing because of the unusual blade holders, but I caught on quickly. The light fixture globe was difficult to attach the first time. It took several tries to figure out the correct manner to screw it on from below. After that, it became fairly easy. I suggest using two hands with each forefinger and thumb angled as in the attached photo. That way you are turning the same direction with both hands. The remote control receiver is normally mounted atop the fan housing, but since the fan's wires are at least 6 feet long, it could be mounted father away. I have never liked the appearance of fans that have the blades drooping down like this one. I will probably add some shims to level up the blades. ==== Operation ==== You have only one method of controlling the fan and that is with the remote control. There are no manual controls, so if your remote stops working, so does the fan and light. The remote control does work fine. There is a slight delay in reacting to the button presses, so be patient. The pitch of the blades is good and they deliver an adequate amount of air flow. That is somewhat unusual for Hunter fans, which are well known for reliability, not performance. The fan has three speeds. The speeds are low (46 volts ac), medium (74 volts ac), and high (120 volts ac). If the remote failed, it would be possible to operate the fan directly at 120vac on high speed only. I suspect a universal fan controller would work ok. The light control is another issue. It does NOT work as the manual describes. It is not a Safe-Exit type (dimming the light gradually after a long press of the button). Rather it is a dimmer control, which I prefer. Quick presses of the light button turn on or off the light. If you press and hold the light button on the remote, the light will gradually dim to its minimum and then gradually brighten to the maximum. The process repeats indefinitely as long as you press the button, dimming and brightening repeatedly. When you reach the desired light level, release the button. The control does remember the light setting, so when you quickly press the button to turn it on, the previously set light level is used. The fan is relatively quiet at all speeds. === Summary ==== Good-performing fan with some minor flaws in my opinion: drooping blades, difficult bulb access. Major error in the manual regarding the light control method. Good, quiet air flow. Light dimming capability.

              Awesome Fan that Blows Air
This thing is cool, in just a few words. It was relatively easy to install, and looks awesome! The instructions were clear with pictures and descriptions, and some tips along the way such as --- and this one was important for me --- not to use the lower cover adapter plate when using the shorter downrod for a low profile scenario. When you use the shorter downrod which was included with the install, it is pretty much impossible to attach the mount to the ceiling with the lower cover adapter plate on. You have been warned, this is your warning! Another thing to consider, is how are you going to mount it? If you have an electrical plate, make sure your mount can attach to it with machine screws. In my case, my electrical boxes were shorter than the mount holes of the fan, so I had my friend screw them into joists, of course we went into the attic to make sure joists were there, and ideally you wouldn't have to think about this scenario as I did. Anyway, so after getting the mount up there, it was time to hang up the motor and connect the wires. Wire nuts were included and as long as you follow the instructions you'll be good, it labels "From the fan," "From the receiver," "From the ceiling," so just follow each part and the colors of the wires and you'll be OK! There is a way to bypass the receiver for the lights so you can use the second wall switch if you want, just call Hunter's support line and they can walk you through what to do. I didn't need to do this but I was curious and asked them anyway. Then put everything else on, and get ready to turn it on! It came with LED bulbs, cool! And they're standard size so you can use CFL bulbs too, it's not any sort of special light bulb that's impossible to find at HD. The blades are color sided, one's blacker, and one's brown, so you can set those blades with whatever color you want. Make sure the motor direction switch has been pushed one way or another because mine was right in the middle and had no idea which direction to go when I turned it on at first! The remote has a cradle that can be screwed into the wall, and came with a watch type battery, just have a tiny screwdriver handy to open the little battery door. And you're done! The remote controls the lights and the fan speed, it does not control the fan's direction. The light button when held down can control the dimness of the lights, when let go it will stay where you choose. Also there is an option in the instructions about relearning the remote with the fan, and an option to have the lights turn off after 30 seconds so you can do what you need to do and walk out of the room, perhaps you've placed the remote away from the door or something else. I have used both of these features and can confirm they do work. The fan doesn't have a noticeable wobble until on the third and highest speed. I'm unsure if the included balance weights could fix the issue or not, but it doesn't bother me too much right now to try to do that. Other than that, the blades move very quickly on the highest speed and bring a LOT of air to the room. As for direction, I think it is complete preference. I have mine pulling the air up and to the sides of the room instead of down at the moment, it still makes the room feel just as cool as if it was down. I am no expert in the science behind the option of direction, but I truly think it is all about whether you want the air ON you or AROUND you. So long as the heat is away from me, I'm good! So in summary, this fan is easy to install, works great, looks great, feels great. I'd say it's a success and definitely getting 5 stars from me in terms of quality, performance, and functionality. Plus it only has 3 blades!

              Simple and Classy Ceiling Fan
This fan was super easy to install and I'm quite pleased with the end result. It was packaged very well and came without a blemish. It came with an option for a 2" downrod and a 3" downrod. Nothing longer. That worked fine for my application and I used the 3" downrod. No issues installing the fan base. It required the addition of a ridiculous remote receiver in the base of the fan (pictured). This is the 2nd remote receiver I have encountered like this, from different manufacturers. It's 2016. Is there not a better, more compact remote option now? I didn't have an issue fitting the remote into the base but it gets cramped with 5 different connections to make. Attaching the fan blades was very straightforward and I appreciated it didn't require a dozen bolts per blade. I believe it was 3 bolts per blade and another 3 to attach the blades to the fan. Easily a 1-person task. The blades can be flipped for a black/ebony wood look or a dark walnut/brown look. We opted for the dark walnut and it looks great. I appreciate the clean lines, modern aesthetic while still looking warm. The fan uses 2 standard LED light bulbs that were included. They are fine but we might opt for slightly higher wattage bulbs in the future. With LEDs coming down in price, this is not a big deal. The big nitpick I have with this fan is shared with just about every fan manufacturer in the industry (that I have encountered). What is up with the remote controls? They are absurd. This one is not only awful but awfully cheap looking/feeling. It could not have cost Hunter more than 14 cents to manufacture this abomination. I mean, even Fischer Price would turn their nose up at this thing. It works just fine but it weighs about 1.2 ounces. The wall holder fits over the wall switch, which is kind of nifty because the switch still works (if needed). But the remote & holder are dark brown and chintzy feeling. It doesn't look terribly nice on the wall and it didn't come with brown screws to mount the holder to the switch. Also, who wants a dark brown remote attached to the wall? This thing might come down at some point. But it works just fine! The remote control aside, the fan looks great and (most importantly) is quiet and works as expected. If only Hunter would add a nicer, more modern remote control this would be a 5 star product. However, I wouldn't have issue buying another one of these for another room.

              Not truly "remote" operating
remote doesn't always mean "remote" -- this fan requires you to flip a switch on the main unit to reverse direction. We needed scaffolding to install this so not going to be feasible to reverse directions seasonally. Very disappointed - takes a lot of figure out on the website what the remotes actually can do.
