Stylish and strong but blades are cheap looking
Stylish fan and really puts off a nice breeze! I only wish the blades didn't look so cheap. They are plastic and have no sort of grain or texture. Other than that it really is a beautiful fan

It's Really Good, Not Great
I chose the hard wire the control / fan unit and use a switch for the light, despite this not being the recommended installation. This allows for an always on connection and the ability to control the light from the switch, which is perfect for my home office application. I'm happy with the style, the fan is very quiet and delightfully powerful. Things aren't perfect, as the included remote control is not working with the fan. Unfortunately, because I chose to hardwire the fan the included instructions to pair the remote aren't an easy ask. I also cannot get the light dimmer to work, which was a critical buying decision for me, since the existing switch not fitting a dimmer switch was a major motivation for choosing this fan.
Installation notes:
Good
-Apple HomeKit installation was perfect. I have about a half-dozen different home kit appliances and found this to be the easiest and fastest install.
-I really appreciated not needing to sign up with a Hunter Account for pairing with HomeKit.
-Overall, instructions are dead simple. This did make trouble shooting difficult, then the trouble turned out to be me.
Bad
-Dimmer doesn't work.
-Remote wasn't paired correctly out of the box.
-Proper remote connection is necessary to use the Hunter App, no remote, no app. So the beeps persist! :(
-Apple HomeKit, make sure your HomeKit is up to date. I spent about 2 hours trying to diagnose a problem with the fan that would have been resolved had I not been using an old iPhone to set up the HomeKit integration.
Other
-Having a HomePod and multiple i-devices make this easy to control from anywhere. Including my 6 year old who convinced my wife the unit had gone crazy when he was playing with it from another room.
-My wife is not as amused by "Hey Siri, set the Hunter Fan to 50%" as I am. It is very fun.

Easy Install but Confusing Smart Setup
Prior background, I have previously installed 2 Fanimation fans where the assembly instructions were good but made awkward due to the requirement of having the fan blades installed prior to hanging the fan. I have also removed and reinstalled the builder installed fans which came with our new home purchase.
The Hunter Symphony fan was one of the easiest installs I have completed to date. The instruction manual has clear steps and a clever labeling, using symbols, on each individual parts bag which made finding the right parts during each step a breeze. An added bonus is the ability to install the main base of the fan (motor), hanging the fan from the ceiling mount, prior to installing the fan blades. The benefit is two fold: first the weight is reduced without having the blades installed prior to hanging and second reduces awkwardness of climbing a ladder while holding the fan by the down rod and attempting to mount and wire around the fan blades. The manual also gives you clear instructions on how to wire to a single switch or dual switches so you have control of the light and fan independently.
The primary reason I purchased this fan was due to Apple Homekit functionality. Fanimation does not have Homekit functionality and their new wireless adapter which requires a separate purchase would end up costing close to what I paid for the Hunter Fan. In addition, the Fanimation fans do not have ability to wire the light independent of the fan for dual switch uses.
The most cumbersome part of connecting the smart features of the Hunter Fan was unclear instructions on which app is used to connect the fan. There are 2 Hunter branded apps in the app store: Simpleconnect Wi-Fi and SIMPLEconnect 2.0. The instruction manual refers you to the Simpleconnect Wi-FI (as does image on the box) but after multiple unsuccessful attempts to get the app to complete connection to Homekit, I decided to try the SIMPLEconnect 2.0 app. After following the steps for the SIMPLEconnect 2.0 app, connection to Homekit went smoothly within Hunter's app. I did not have issue having the SIMPLEconnect 2.0 app. Within the SIMPLEconnect 2.0 app, you can disable the audible beep of the fan (which should be off by default) and update firmware when necessary.
Overall, I am satisfied with the purchase of the Hunter Symphony Smart Fan. I plan on purchasing additional fans for my remaining rooms, so they are all connected via Homekit.

I installed a conventional Hunter ceiling fan with lights in our bedroom nearly 25 years ago and it's been reliable and quiet. So when we wanted a ceiling fan for our living room, I went back to Hunter. Since we use Apple HomeKit a bit, decided to get the Symphony. Just finished installation and have some thoughts.
The good: Great fan, attractively styled, quiet, unobtrusive, and WiFi enabled. Extremely easy setup with Apple HomeKit. We primarily control the fan using the small remote control provided (which I mounted to the wall), or use our iPhones to ask Siri to "set the living room fan to 50%" or "turn on the living room light."
The not so good: Documentation and marketing material do not make it clear that you cannot control the fan in the conventional way using a wall switch for the light and a fan switch for the fan. This product is intended to be installed with direct power to the fan's internal controller. You don't really need a wall switch because you can use either the small battery powered remote provided or HomeKit/Google Home/Alexa to control the fan and light.
You can connect a wall switch for the light, however the switch is simply providing a signal to the fan's internal controller to turn the light on or off: Do not expect to install a dimmer and be able to dim the light. That $50 Lutron Maestro fan switch/dimmer I bought was useless. I also didn't need to string 14/3 Romex to the switch box. Oh well ...
The installation instructions are woefully incomplete. For example, which wire is for the light and which wire is for the fan's internal controller? It would be pretty easy to just come out and say it. Also a description of the need for continuous power to the fan's internal controller is an important concept that I couldn't find explicitly described anywhere.
I installed the fan with continuous, unswitched power to the fan's internal controller and a single wall switch to turn the lights on/off in the conventional way. We control fan speed and direction with the battery powered remote or with our phones. A bit of a bummer that we cannot dim the lights.
In spite of these shortcoming, the Symphony is an attractive fan, it's quiet, and it should make a great addition to any home, especially if you're into Apple HomeKit/Google Home/Alexa.

Excellent Smart Fan
I had some worries regarding purchasing this fan for my new home. Researching the SimpleCONNECT app from Hunter left me very nervous about purchasing this fan. However, I purchased the flat black variant of this fan with the intention of using it as a HomeKit fan. Once i had the fan installed, i skipped the SimpleCONNECT app and just immediately added the fan to Apples HomeKit. I couldnt have asked for a better experience. I scanned the HomeKit code, named the fan and boom, I was ready to control the fan with Siri or from my phone. I dont know how those looking to use Alexa or Google assistant will fair, but HomeKit was hassle free. The fan has 4 speeds. Speeds 1, 3 and 4 are excellent. Speed 2 results in a drumming noise. The light has 10 dimming settings and is a soft white temp. Perfect for the room im using it. Only major point, and the reason for only 4 stars, i understand why the fan beeps when using the included remote (you want confirmation the fan got the input), but i dont think the fan should ALSO beep when a command is issued by my phone or voice. Bottomline, excellent HomeKit fan

This fan is beautiful! It was easy to install and is well made. It looks very sleek and futuristic and works great. It is quiet and perfect as far as the fan part goes. For the fan alone it is 5 stars. I love it.
My issue is with the smart features. I downloaded the Hunter fan app and it was (and still is) a nightmare to figure out. I had to set the fan up first in apple homekit and then it was recognized by the Hunter app. When you create a Hunter account it asks you to verify your email. If you open your email on a computer it doesn't work... you need to open the email on the same device as your Hunter app. But then after I created a Hunter account it doesn't show the fan in my account which you need in order for it to work with Alexa. I am still trying to get that to work. It has an annoying beep every time you turn it on or off but you CAN turn that off via the Hunter app once you get it working.
If you are easily frustrated or not technically inclined you will get mad trying to set this up, I promise you that. Hopefully they will get someone to fix their app! Overall 5 star fan, 1 star app!
