Would I have to remove my toilet to use this on my toilet drain?
Asked by: errdaddy
No, DO NOT use this on your toilet unless you want to ruin it, I used this on my toilet and this left scratches on the pot all over, this tool isnt worth it, and these folks do not have any documentation or guide saying this. Stay away from this, my advise.

How do you connect the cord to the handle

Asked by: Pheorama
Unscrew the wingnut in the handle newrly all the way. Slide the cable from the skinny end all the way through the handle so at least a foot sticks out the other side. Tighten the nut.

How do you put it together

Asked by: Brian
Loosen screw on side of bent tube. Slide cable through middle of hollow tube to desired length. Tighten screw. Grasp tube with both hands, one on each "handle" and start cranking while pushing cable into clogged hole.

My stand alone shower backed up, coincidentally two days after I had a plumber out here to fix a broken shower faucet. Before calling a plumber, I tried one of those plastic drain sticks that I use on the sink. Nada. It wouldn’t get past the bend in the drain. Reluctantly I headed back to HD for the $15 husky drum auger. Of course it was out of stock. So I got this one. I couldn’t get it to feed i to the bend either! Then I recruited my wife to crank the handles while I force fed the auger in the drain. That worked. As someone else said, it pulled up a clump of hair he size of a mouse! Problem solved. I liked that it was only $8. Perhaos a drum auger would have been easier to do a 1 man operstion. Hints: 1. Unwind the whole thing. I needed about 6 feet to feed into the drain and then my wife needed some to stand up and turn the handles. 2. Wear gloves. Or have lava soap handy because your hands will be covered in black greasy stuff from the snake and the drain. 3. Of course take off the drain cover first. 4. Stick the fat end with the bulbous part in the drain. I started with the wrong end because I didn’t unwind the whole thing on my first try.

The handles are not very offset which makes turning it hard work. I am used to manual work and my hands ended up cramping from the effort, It comes with no directions so make sure you look at them on line before you purchase. It did clear the clog. Getting it back on the storage reel is another adventure.

Very poor documentation and no manual's videos on how to use it, even the homedepot guys were struggling when asked for the how to do Qs etc. No where it says that should not be used as Toilet Aguer. I ended up buying this to unclog my toilet instead it damaged my toilet with tons of scratches :-(

I had a plugged shower drain and it opened it well. After using it, I used liquid drain cleaner to make sure I got through all the clogs. My only complaint is that there are no directions with it and for the average homeowner is tough to figure out unlike other openers. It come wound on a reel with both ends exposed but had no idea how to fit the handle on it. It is very sturdy since it is a rust resistant steel wire. I finally gave up on attaching the handle and used a ramming action instead of twisting it like its designed. It is a good buy for the price. I would have given it 5 stars it if had included the directions for the handle which would have made the job easier.
