The lid is composed of Polycarbonate which is known to contain bisphenol-A, the container is Polypropylene which is supposed to be BPA-Free if it's pure. I don't believe there is an NSF rating for these containers

how much weight can it hold

Asked by steve February 13, 2021

Answer

The Home Depot website for this containers says "Weight Capacity 500 lb". But that's heavier than a couple people can lift. So it should be able to handle all the weight that one person could handle. The top is strong plastic that shouldn't bend due to the weight. And watertight.

Is this just a limited run of these containers?

I ordered mine curbside and picked up a few hours later. Restock has been slow on these items so you may have to check back at a later fate.

Definitely Heavy Duty, Probably one of the better storage bins out there for the price. MADE IN USA.
MADE IN USA. If there's one thing Americans do well, it's making plastic. At 20-gal, it is about the right size for what I need them for. They fit all my parts with a little bit of room to spare to fit extra parts. The two bins purchased fit in my little hatchback car but are slightly too tall to double stack them. I could get three of the Plano 56-qt Sportsman Trunk bins to carry the same amount of parts for a cheaper price but no clear top means I can't quickly identify the box of parts I need for the day. Clear lid is made of POLYCARBONATE which is a high impact durable plastic. No worries about this cracking, The WEAKEST part of these bins are the LATCHES. They look to be hard plastic and are a bit flimsy when attached to the heavy polycarbonate lid when the front/rear latches are used as a hinge. If you over-extend when using the latch as a hinge or accidentally drop or slam on the latches, they will most likely break. I even saw a broken latch on the floor when picking these up. One of the latches broke off from the stack of bins. I guess that's why there are 6 latches, just in case one breaks. Which is why I rated this 4 stars. Also, the gasket isn't in secure and comes off easily. Overall, great storage bin, just go easy on the latches.

Don't make a Waterproof Storage Container with a water basin on the top of it! Total fail on lid design.
When I purchase a Waterproof Storage Container. It sould be able to sit in the rain without an issue. Husky only has one style of tub with the lid more pratically designed. I love the idea I can see through the polycarbonate lids. Polycarbonate is a strong clear plastic. nOne draw back to polycarbonate. It deteriate quickly in UV light. The more practical design is the Husky20 Gal.and 30 Gal Storage Bins with the gray lids. They do not collect as much water on top if they get rained on. I like using these tubs when camping. If the Weather proof tub happens to get rained on. It fill the lid like a swimming pool. It gathers about 2 gallons of water on top. the grey topped tub are designed where more water runs off. Maybe all the water. I understand they make the lids as they do for stacking purposes. they still should design it with a much smaller foot catch with lid more in a raised design. If they still want to have a ridge around the top it should have some small channels to allow most water to run off the top. Summary: Don't make a Waterproof Storage Container with a water basin on the top of it. Photo is of tub design that gathers less water on top. It still should have small channels where I indicated. The level should be the same as the loest level in center of lid. Allow water to flow off if they get caught in a rain storm.

Really pleased. The variable hinges to either side is interesting. The plastic is a little less flexable than some other totes I'ive purchased making me think it will crack before deforming for a moment under stress. Seems pretty watertight. Currently holds a circular saw (without case because it didn't come with one :( ), small sander, drill, staple gun, electrical chord and jigsaw into the box. About 6 inches are left towards to top for a tarp. I would hesitate to put much more weight in it because of the plastic thickness/type I mentioned. Figure with what I've got in it - its gonna last a long time and protect it all in storage.

I put my RC Car in it with all my batteries, charger and tools. The clear lid makes it easy to see which RC is in the container. The lid can hinge from either side making it easy to open no matter how you put it in the car. Best is the water/dust and dirt seal keeps dust out when I put it on the back of my UTV for a trip up the mountain to drive the RC. Cost is good. I've used it for 1 month.

Well built, secure, sealed, protective, heavy duty, impact resistant...Husky products just keep getting better! This 20 gallon storage box looks and feels like it can fall off the back of the truck and keep on ticking. Husky did not skimp on materials, or ensuring that whatever is inside is well protected...it all starts with good thickness in the box and lid and follows through on the latching system of six latches and an o-ring to keep everything dry. If you need to keep something dry and clean in any environment this is the storage container for you...pics attached. Ohh, and you can secure the lid with lock or tie straps!

Best storage bins I've owned. Lids are see-through and hinge 2 directions. Use them in my travel trailer and under the tonneau of my truck. I put a 2x4 across the rear of the wheel wells and use these bins every day for gear. Will be buying more of these.

This storage container has a beautiful crystal clear plastic lid. The 6 latches work well. Two of the latches are also handles and are nicely designed. I weighed it on my scale and it weighs in at just under 8 pounds. I measured it with my tape measure and it measures 27 inches wide by 18 inches deep by 15-1/2 inches high. The rubber seal inside the lid measures just over 1/4 inch in diameter. A nice product overall.

This is a really nice, sturdy tote with a lot of great features. It is lightweight, yet durable, and the clear lid allows you to see what you're storing. The clasps on the side double as hinges (so if you unclasp the two clasps on the near side, the tote will flip open--hinged by the clasps on the opposite side.) Of course, you can also completely remove the lid if you so choose. I like that it is bright red in color so that it is easily distinguished from the other (boring black) storage totes in my garage.

I like this case for the size and weather seal. The clear cover is strong and has a seal built into the surround so when attached to the container a very good quality seal is made. There are 6 latches all around the lid to hold it in place. The lid fits perfectly on the container and the latches are easy to use. I use this case in the back of my crossover to hold a variety of material. I have a few cordless tools and batteries inside and plenty of paperwork and catalogs. I actually have a small HDX container inside this Husky container to sort some loose materials. Red is a fantastic bright shade and the clear cover clips in so well allowing direct view through the top. The entire case feels quite strong. I keep paperwork in it as this time of year rain often gets into the back of my vehicle when I open the rear hatch. My only complaint is the plastic "fingers" on the lid when it is off. In order to mount well on the handles/clamps, the unit confirms around the hinged bracket leaving plastics fingers. They seem possible a point of breaking,

So here we have an storage container from "Husky", rugged, securable, stackable and with it's 6-point latching lid and gasket that protects contents from dust and water, you could not ask for more. I like the fact that by unlocking the sides and front two latches, it opens as a hinged box or un-latch them all and remove the lid. Now I'm using it as a storage container for my vertical smoker with a side box where one could BBQ a few burgers too. Here we have three 18+ pound bags poured in and still have room, and with a normal slow cook/smoker of 8 or more hours - we can easily use a 1/3 or so of that - so thus 20 gal capacity is just the asker for that need. And it will keep our wood/charcoal dry and fresh all year round - 24/7-365.
