The sawhorses keep tipping over for me. Is there a way to lock the hinges?

Asked by JayRod November 22, 2020

Answer

Unfortunately, NO. I've found that the best way to keep them stable is to make sure that you have something flat, like a board, going over both of them. Otherwise, you're gonna have to use something like duct tape to tape the "hinge" in the middle together, so that it's harder for them to tip over. As an extreme measure, you could use Gorilla Glue to glue the hinge open, so that they'll NEVER tip over! Otherwise, consider getting wood sawhorses that'll stay up.

Hello Will, Thank you for your question. These Sawhorses are made 100% in the USA in the State of Ohio.

Can clamps be used with this saw horse?

yes, these have a cut in both ends that will accommodate a 2 by material so you have an upright to clamp to also.

Can a 2x4 or 2x6 be mounted on top (parallel with the top rather than perpendicular)?

Yes but there is no way to keep them stable unless you screw them down, which I do not suggest. If you can clamp them to the sawhorse, that would be best.

base too narrow and they constatly tip over
I do not recommend these. They don’t lock open and the base is too narrow, so as a result they constantly tip over/fold up when touch while trying to lay something on top.

i have been wanting to get these for a long time and i'm glad i did they fold easy just be careful you don't keep you hand on top of it when you fold as it pinched extremely hard on my hand. I like they are lightweight and can even be left out or folded up

They are the lesser version, they are sufficient for smaller jobs.

Only good thing is, they are inexpensive.
I purchased two pair of these a couple of years ago. They are not well designed and very cheaply made. The "flap" between the upright are hinged in the middle and those break. But worse the two ends of that flap that hold the legs in place are secured by small protrusions in the legs. They break off and then the legs can't be kept from spreading apart. I saw no way of working around this. At best, these are cheap enough on sale to be disposable after a couple of uses.

The Husky 28 in. Folding Sawhorse (2-Pack) was recently purchased to replace an older set. I liked it so much I bought a second set. This set is a nice quality product that is also light weight and portable. There are hooks on either side to wrap a power cord or rope around. I would definitely recommend this product.

only get it on sale for less than $20 for the pair. any more than that & i'd feel like i overpaid. they are lightweight but decently sturdy. they do separate easier than i think they should at the top hinge part, but that's easily avoidable by not shifting them around while they're setup. not a bad deal on sale for less than $20, but i wouldnt pay more.

These sawhorses are pretty good, the only drawback is they don't stay latched in the open position. The bottom pops up when you shift the sawhorses. But for the price, I won't complain!

I felt a bit uneasy when placing a heavy door on top of them. The sawhorses are lightweight, so they tended to move a bit on the concrete floor. The bottom shelf that acts as the hinged lock to stand them up, does not have a positive lock that give you sense of security. Need to make sure it is fully engaged because it tends to easily disengage. For things like lumber, it does the job. Good buy, since it was $20 off.

The saw horses were ok. Used for a couple jobs for some laminate wood flooring and fascia work on some homes. One of the saw horses had one of the cord wrapping hangers broke upon delivery which is kinda worrying considering the work they’re supposed to be for can be tough on them . They seem to be weak in that area. They are really light but the abs plastic its made of doesn’t feel so sturdy. They don’t open very wide and feel like they can tip over when doing a cut on a heavy piece of lumber. Not very balanced. They held up good with anything I put on them weight wise and the gap that fits a 2x4 on each side really helped it out. That’s how I mostly used them. They do what they are made for.
