Q:When would I want to use this 3 1/2" tool verses the 5" tool?

Answer This Question

A:  For the Husky 3-1/2 in. Stainless Steel Drywall Corner Tool, the smaller size is ideal for taping inside corners that are near door or window frames where the 5” will not fit. You could also use the 3.5” tool on the fist taping pass, then the 5” on the second coat to help feather the edges quickly.

A:  I would use the 3½" to prefill, and 5" for tape

    Answer This Question

A:  The corner tool is recommended for the finishing step of mudding inside corners. Once mud has been applied, use the tool to smooth mud into the seam.

A:  Apply liberal mud to each face of the corner using a standard knife. Apply the trowel in the corner and draw continuously along the corner. Smooth using the corner trowel, feather using a standard knife.

A:  Use the paper drywall tape and fill the corner with compound apply the tape evenly and after filling some on top of the tape, use the tool to perfect the corner, clean excess from the edges, and proceed as required to complete the corner to eliminate any excess. Do not use the fiber tape on corners it is very hard to work with, and bunches up easily.

If you are doing any kind of drywall, whether to a ceiling or walls, you need to get this corner tool. I have done lots of drywall jobs without one and it can be very frustrating and time consuming. This tool is really a necessity to get any kind of professional finish. This one is made to last so you only have to buy it once as long as you reasonably maintain it. The lines are straight and clean so you get a perfect finish.

This drywall tool is excellent and has a perfect angle to give square corners to mud. It’s about 100 degrees to give a solid 90 degrees when finishing walls. The handle is comfortable and the size is good for almost any corner. The angle of handle bend is perfect. There is also a 5 inch version which should make a smoother transition. The metal has enough flex to make use very easy.

The drywall repairs that I’m working on include a number of cracks in corners that need to be taped. This tool was designed exactly for finishing these inside corners. The blade is made from a single piece of stainless steel. It is set at a 103 degree and flexes to 90 degrees to handle any angle in between because not all corners are perfect. I did not have any problems with it snagging or tearing the drywall tape. I liked the handle because the grip was soft and comfortable but it prevented the tool from slipping. This tool has a lifetime warranty, so I don’t have to worry about investing additional funds in the event that something happens while I’m working with it. At this price, this tool is a real bargain!

A nice, sturdy inside corner tool for doing drywall. The blades flex just enough with modest pressure to give you a good 90 degree inside corner. The handle is comfortable and sized appropriately to give you good control. The large hole at the bottom of the handle makes hanging the tool easy if that is you preference. While it's called a 3 1/2 inch, each blade extends just under 3 inches and the length from top to bottom is a bit under 3 1/2 inches. Neither of those measurements are critical to me.
