What is the country of origin?
Does thing come without an edge? I got mine and it has no edge whatsoever, yet everyone seems to be raving about theirs???
4 years ago i bought this axt and it had a very sharp edge. One week ago o bought de exactly same axt and every single axt in the store had no sharp edge. Maybe some new regulations? Don?t now the law?s here, im from Switzerland ??
It makes no sense, their axes that has a wooden handle all had a very sharp edge, but every one of the fiberglass handle axes were dull at heck...couldn't cut yourself if you tried. I asked a worker and he couldn't shed any light on why they were dull.
Mine had an exceptional edge for a mass-produced, inexpensive axe. However the temper is not good, and though its easy to sharpen, I have to sharpen it after 3-4 16" diameter logs.
Mine had a decent edge when I used it first. Does seem to dull up faster than some though.
Just purchased in North Carolina, no edge??
Would this axe be good for chopping down trees?
Sure - if an axe is your tool of choice for taking down a tree, this particular one will work well. The "Michigan"-style head shape is a good for chopping - it was specifically developed for felling large, dense white pines.
