Yes, I saw that conflicting information as well. However, I purchased this item yesterday, and tested It. It does in fact have variable speed control. I was looking for a method to alert the webmaster to have the specs corrected, when I saw your question.

What does brushed mean??

This refers to the motor type; it is a brushed rather than brushless motor. Brushed motors are louder, require more power and do not last as long, but are less expensive. Brushed motors are usually adequate for most users who are not using the tool quite often such as professionals.

As an employee of HD, I would get items that we would put out. Of course, I would wait until it was time to tear down the displays and put things back on the shelf. I thought this would be a good item to have. Not really using tools much as I believe in paying the skilled people to do jobs for me so that they too may make a living. I purchased this item as a ratchet and socket set. 1003-325-401. I finally had the opportunity to use it and after the first use, it stopped working. Not working at HD any more it took me some time to take it back for an exchange. Couldn't do it because HD didn't have any more sets like this. And of course, I could not exchange just the ratchet. Like another unhappy customer, it worked once, thought the battery was dead, charged it, still did not work. All I want is to exchange the ratchet. Now I am at the end of my 2-year warranty in a couple of days.

Best tool for the money
I usually don’t do reviews!!! I bought mine at normal price and even at that price it’s still a deal. I’ve had it for over a year now and man I love it. My buddy just bought one on sale and I bought one for my brother! I tried the Milwaukee m12 version (non brushless) and it stood no chance against the husky. I’m truly amazed by the husky ratchet battery life as well... If you looking for something that’s reliable and won’t hurt your wallet this is it!

Very nice tool, I have a larger one with a larger battery, but too bulky, I like the compact feel and strength of the ratchet. It's torque is good, who cares if you can't unplug the battery....can't use it if the separate battery is charging...use it for awhile....plug it in. If you squeeze the trigger a little the lite comes on.....I put a strap on the case ….then put it on the shelf, probably never use the case....I keep the tool in my tool box, with my sockets....ready to work. took it to a friends house, working on his car.....he liked it as well.....PRICE ??? Can't beat it.....walk...run....drive.....and pick one up !!! SMILE !! Randy

This is a nice heavy-duty battery-operated ratchet. It has variable speed, and if you need you can use it like a regular ratchet to loosen the bolts and nuts then use the motor to remove the bolt or nut. It is easy to charge, comes with the charger and a real nice storage container to keep it in. It also has a place where you could put a small lock on if you have the need for it!

(What's this)
Quick Review: This a brushed motor cordless ratchet that gets the job done, to me it is a product with great potential that is setup to fail. It came as a kit for the same price as its main competitor yet it lacks so many features. I was able to tighten and loosen some rusted 10mm bolts on my car with ease. Performance wise this would get a 4/5 , features and value would get a 2/5. Drawbacks: Nonremovable battery, long recharge time, no time delay for the light, shuts off soon as you release the handle. Nonremovable battery I am on the fence about recommending it, I would but would say just be mindful of the things that I consider to be drawbacks More In Depth Review: This lost 2 stars from me for a few reason, mainly because this does not have a removable battery, that means several things. One of which is that you always have to lock it when it is not in use otherwise it can turn on and waste the battery. That leads me to the other issue, it has a long recharge time. The manual states that it takes about 70minutes to recharge. So if you forget to charge it and use it til it runs out of juice, you cannot pop in another battery. You would have to charge it up. You can still use it as a manual ratchet , but that is not what you are paying to use it as. Speaking of using it as a manual ratchet. Performance: This did a good job of not over tightening the bolts that I used it for on my car, once it reached its max, 30ft/lbs it shut off. I tried to operate it some more and tighten it further, after a 1/4 turn it shut off. I did not have to fight with the bolts, or run this for a long time to reach bolt This comes in a hard plastic case, it is small but big enough where it could use a handle to carry it. Another issue was the light. The light is nice and bright, temperature wise this a cool blue light so it lights up its surfaces well. The problem for me is that once you release the trigger it shuts off right away, I feel this could have benefitted from having a 10 second, or so, delay. This way you can still see in those hard to reach spaces. I found that if you squeeze the handle trigger with enough pressure you can get the light to come on without activating the ratchet. Feel: This feels very sturdy, the overmold is very comfortable and it is small and has a nice amount of weight to it. Improvements I would like to see If Husky upgrades it , and it still has nonremovable battery, I would like to see them reduce the recharge time. Also I would change the din style adapter ,like a pc mouse, for the charger. While trying to charge it several times I felt like a piece of it was going to break include a delay in the light so it does not shut off automatically when you release the handle.

(What's this)
I like this ratchet ,it has some weight to it and sure beats using a hand ratchet to save time and hassle. It will torque up to 30 foot pounds, and you can lock it into a manual mode to loosen or break stubborn nuts. Battery life indicator has 3 lights ( max power ) and charges in about 45 minutes once the battery dies and needs charged. There is a lock on the trigger to activate this tool to manually operate it or use the battery operated mode to remove or tighten bolts. The only part I don't like about it is that the battery is built into the tool and not removable therefore if it runs out of power you need to charge it back up since a spare is not available.( charger included and instruction booklet ) It does have an overload protection in it to protect the tool which I like. Seems to be well made and will save the average DIY a lot of time . I do recommend this tool ,.
