3/8 in. Drive SAE/Metric 6-Point Impact Socket Set (44-Piece)

I bought this specific set because in the description, it says two cases. I did not receive the two cases to hold the sockets. I received one case and the other set of sockets had the package ripped open and the sockets loosely in the box. I would like to be sent a replacement box for my standard sockets.

These are very good, quality looking impact sockets and should meet my needs. However, don’t be fooled by the storage case photos. Only the metric set of mine came in the displayed plastic case, and that is plastic molded arriving with a side latch broken. The SAE set was in a plastic pack attached to a plastic “socket rail” that was destroyed during shipping. So I will be looking for a sturdier socket storage solution to hold this set.

The inside was messy when opened, and after finishing, I found that a 22mm part was missing.Please send additional 22mm

There's a lot to like about this impact sockets set, it has a perfect combination of sizes both SAE and metric. The case is sturdy and well organized. The socket design is well thought out, and they work well with both ball and ring detents. The two extensions and the swivel add everything you need in a socket set. On the negative side four of the deep sockets had a finish that was not the same as the rest of the set, see the picture below, and their engraving was hard to read. The price was right, and the life time warranty made this set and great purchase.

this set feels very solid and good quality. comes in a plastic case, well organized. I mainly got this set to use with my Milwaukee M12 3/8 stubby. works great with o-ring drive. I'm sure itll work with pin detent as well.

Overall I think this is a great set of sockets, they look well made and the couple I tried had a good fit. The little set of common sockets with the extension is really nice. I wish the entire set was labeled like those were. Like others had mentioned, most the sockets are nice and shiny with the size etched on. The size is not real easily read however and would be an issue in poor light. There are about 6 different sockets in this set that are not shiny and are instead have the powder coating applied and not shined up at all. The issue is the sizes of these particular ones are very difficult to read. A couple of these ones were also very dirty/oily etc. that requited cleanup. This would be a all-star set if these few were better.

This massive beast of a tool set is indeed one of the most comprehensive sets I have seen. Up to this point I had just cobbled together my own wrench and socket set, and was always finding ‘skips’ (missing sizes) when I needed them; no more now that I own this. If you work on cars, motorcycles, engines then this is the set for you. Not something your run of the mill DIYer absolutely needs, but owning this set you would require very little else to ensure you have what you need to tackle pretty much any mechanical task. Out of the box, each component of the set (like SAE wrenches, metric sockets, 12 point SAE sockets, etc) all come in their own bags, so setting up and organizing your tool chest/drawers is much easier than if you had to pick thru the set. The wrenches, sockets, ratchets, etc all have a great hand feel: they are heavy, sturdy, and feel to be well made; nothing in this set feels or looks to be cheap and despite not having it that long I expect it to last a lifetime. The set is so massive it is overwhelming to talk about it all, so I’ll highlight some of my favorites: -a COMPLETE set of hex wrenches, in SAE, metric, AND Torx! -Bit sockets; driver bits (all kinds) that attach to a socket wrench. Even has square and tore and star bits! These are something I have always needed. -Ratcheting combination wrenches in pretty much any size you need, with metric and SAE. -Flex socket wrenches, a life saver in hard to get at and work in places. -Deep sockets, something I find myself needing more and more. -Midget combination wrenches, for those tiny nuts I increasingly find myself needing to remove. -A “No Questions Asked” Lifetime warranty: something breaks and Husky or HD will replace it on the spot. WHO will beat that? Of course, the pieces of the kit are so sturdy I can’t see how someone could break one. Some last comments: a) you WILL need a tool chest/drawer set before or soon after you get this if you do not already have one. It does not come with any kind of case; get one that rolls as this set alone weighs over 100 lbs. I have been taking what I need out, using it, and putting it back into the bag it came from until I get my tool chest, just so final organization will be easier; b) It does not come with pliers, the only tool I wish was in the set that is not; and c) the sizes are etched into the sockets and can be hard to read, mostly because they blend in so well; I suspect once they get a little dirt in them they will be more visible. Overall, a really top notch set; I have been impressed with the quality and comprehensiveness of this set and recommend it.

This is the Husky 605 piece mechanics tool set (model H605MTS). The set comes packed nicely and it’s shipped on a mini-pallet (see Photo 1). Inside the outer box is an inner box, and inside that is four separate boxes containing the tools (see Photo 2). Photo 3 shows all the bags of tools spread out. This is a monster set of tools (over 100 lbs worth). It took me the better part of a day to just check that everything was there (I printed out the full list of tools from the Home Depot website—no docs come with the set). Because you can get the complete list of tools online, I’ll just mention a few items that I was particularly glad were included—items a weekend mechanic usually doesn’t have, but when you need them, you’re really glad you have them: Tamper-proof TORX sockets and bits (also a Magnetic, 9-piece Tamper Proof TORX L-Key set), SAE and Metric stubby wrenches, trailer hitch wrench (1 1/8” and 1 1/2”), and midget SAE and Metric wrenches. My biggest complaint is that there is no differentiation (such as a color ring) between metric and SAE sockets—everything has a chrome finish with “hard stamped” markings. And the markings are difficult to read (see Photo 4). However, the screw drivers are differentiated (blue= Phillips, red= flat, see Photo 5). An attempt was made to differentiate the hex keys, but I can’t for the life of me figure out why someone thought using black and gray was a good idea (in a dark tool bag/box, it’ll be hard to tell which is which—see Photo 6). Lots of sockets today have laser etched markings to make them easy to ready—even Home Depot’s Husky brand has some sockets with etched markings. So I struggled on whether or not to take off a star for this. In the end I decided not to because you should be aware of what you’re buying before you hand over your cash. If etched markings are important to you, don’t buy this set—look for a set with etched markings. I tried many of the metric sockets and wrenches on my Subaru, and everything fit nicely onto their respective nuts/bolts. The ratchets had a smooth, positive feel. The screwdrivers felt very sturdy. I was particularly pleased with how the Phillips screwdrivers “bit” into the various screws I tried. The flat screwdrivers have textured ends that help them grip screws. Something to note is, while you do get some socket rails with the kit, no other storage is provided—everything comes in plastic bags inside a cardboard box. In addition, there are not enough socket rails for all the included sockets. Overall, I think quality of the set is excellent and it comes with Husky’s Lifetime Warranty (no receipt required).

I would recommend this Impact Set. With 64 pieces included in this set, you have lots of options. Both SAE and Metric makes it easy to use on different jobs. The carry case is great. The set feels solid and strong. The set offers a lifetime warranty, which is great with any tool. 6 Point style of sockets helps with reducing the chance of rounding fasteners. Can be used with your impact drive tools. Large writing on each socket makes it easy to locate the tool needed.

This review is for the Husky 1/2 in. Drive SAE/Metric Impact Socket Set (64-Piece) Model # H64IMPS. These are six point impact sockets with thick walls which results in the set being approximately 27 pounds. The set includes 15 sizes of standard SAE sockets, 15 sizes of standard metric sockets, 15 sizes of deep SAE sockets, 15 sizes of deep metric sockets, two 1/2 inch extension bars, a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter and a 1/2 universal joint. The sockets feature two pin holes for secure retention. They have a black finish with stamped size markings. The sockets are well built and should last a lifetime but they carry a lifetime warranty in case you have any problems. My set had oil and burs on some of the sockets left behind from manufacturing. The oil also made the finish look uneven but once I wiped them clean they looked good. On some of the sockets I could feel a lip in the inside edge where a bolt would go. I don’t think this will impact fasteners fitting into the socket. In addition, I found some of the size stamping inconsistent. Some sockets it looked deep and easily readable and a few it looked shallow and not easily readable. The case is included and absolutely necessary for a set of this size. It has quality latches on the front that should last many years. It also has side latches to support the weight of the sockets and unfortunately, Husky chose to use cheap plastic latches that will absolutely break off after numerous open and close cycles. Each socket has a molded home in the set and the ones in the lid are tight to keep them from falling out. Overall this is a great set and highly recommended. I’m only giving it 4 stars because of the inconsistent size markings, oily surfaces, loose burs in the case and the cheap side latches.
