Questions & Answers

Will this withstand cold weather

Answer This Question

no, this is an indoor shovel.

This shovel features a full tempered steel blade and a varnished hardwood handle. While these materials are generally durable, extreme cold can affect them. Wood can become brittle in very cold temperatures, and steel can become more prone to cracking or breaking under stress in extreme cold. However, for typical cold weather gardening tasks, it should be sufficient.

What a piece of crap. Ergonomics on this shovel are pathetic, the bend is too shallow to allow for proper use of it unless you are very, very short. A average height person needs to bend too far over to scoop up anything and when you stand erect you need to keep your arms extended down to keep the payload from dumping off. I can't return it because it didn't technically fail, it just never got started, and they will allow a return for a 'failed' item. It's useless to me except maybe for edging with it's 'comfort step'...who needs a big step on a flat bottom shovel? Do 'engineers' that spec things ever try them or even know how to use the tools they are in charge of? 🤔This one is a stinker.

I have been impressed with many Husky products and so I gave this shovel a try. The reputation holds! It is well-built and feels very sturdy with a longer one-piece collar at the shovel head. I've used this tool for months in road construction and it's holding up well, all for an affordable price.

Broke the handle on the first try on removing a shrub.
I bought this shovel last year. Used it for gardening but it failed me today. I was expecting more out of it but it broke where the handle meets the metal base of the shovel. Definitely not a man’s shovel. Cheap and not good for higher force leverage.

I needed a square shovel to move 1.5 cubic yards of gravel. The gravel is now moved. Mission accomplished. Large gravel sucks to move because you have to force the shovel into the big rocks. Maybe a vibrating attachment would make the shovel wiggle between the rocks faster. Or maybe I just need to quit whining and work harder. ;-)

After watching many lawn care videos I determined that this tool would be an excellent addition to my toolbox and I was right.

A fairly good light weight shovel. I removed the rubber sleeve from the handle. I've found they create more problems than they solve.
