Does this Husky Single Bit Michigan Hickory Handle Axe (# 34198) come with a sheath? And, if not, why not?
    ByNov 23, 2024
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

This axe does not come with a sheath. The axe has a polished head and a hickory handle with a laser-etched grip. It is designed for chopping and clearing timber and brush. While a sheath isn't included, it's important to store and transport the axe safely.

The product does not come in a box but like the other person mentioned if ordered and shipped it would be. Best Regards

      By|Jun 1, 2024

I am sure that if you ordered it for shipment it would come in a box. If you purchase it at a store either online or in person, No, it will not come in a box. People like to look at the straightness of the wood grain of the handle.

does this axe stay sharp or does it require constant sharpening

            Answer This Question

-I have found that it is pretty good at staying sharp but I have to admit I do not use it constantly on a daily basis. I believe it is well worth the money though.

Is this durable enough to be used as a wedge with a sledge hammer?

              Answer This Question

You can but over time the axe head will begin to fail This will take years. Ultimately, the head will crack along the thin part where the handle goes through the axe head. Just get a few wedges and a sledge hammer which are made for that purpose.

              By|Nov 25, 2024

I say yes you can but you might have a problem getting it out once it s in and you might crack the wood handle

                By|Aug 5, 2020

                Yes

                By|Apr 1, 2021

If you're talking about using this axe as a wedge to provide an opening in a piece of wood, & use a sledge hammer to drive it in deeper, then sure! The problem, of course, is going to be getting it OUT!!! Unless you plan to leave it in permanently, I suggest you think of another way of doing things.

there is a metal sleeve in the middle of it so it expands the wood to hold the axe . hope this answer your Question..

The handle is smooth and comfortable, so I'm not sure if there's a finish on it or not. Of course, I always wear gloves when using this axe, so the finish doesn't matter to me.

The weight of the axe is fine; unfortunately, the wood of the handle is not very durable and was damaged the very first time it was used. I think they could improve the area that strikes the wood.

Weak Wood, Broke After Second Use
Handle split and sliced my hand open second time using it. Was chopping up a small stump that was treated with spectracide so it wasn't very strong to begin with. Maybe a dozen whacks and the handle split. Garbage quality wood, never buying mass produced trash again if it can't even hold up to normal use.

It chops, it cuts, it splits. At your own risk. This are nearly killed me.

This axe was sold to me as very durable and almost indestructible, this broke after minutes of being used.

Broke where the axe meets the handle after about 20 dead on strikes on beech wood. Was doing good until it broke. Very disappointed
