It's a heavy farm jack and works as expected
Warning .. this jack is heavy. Don't expect to carry it great distances. But that weight also makes it quite sturdy. I tested it out by lifting by Dodge Ram 2500 and the jack worked smoothly, both going up and going down. When jacking down, one should be ready for the jaws to drop as soon as they no longer support a load. This is the way all jacks like this work, it is not broken. I deducted one star for this review for two reasons. The clip that keeps the handle attached to the jack for storage had to be slighly modified in order to hold. Also, the instructions did not include warnings about how the jack will rapidly lower once it is not under load.

Husky 48 in. 3-1/2-Ton Farm Jack
This a very handy utility farm jack. I work on a variety thing such as cars, trucks, trailers, landscaping, and boat docks. This jack takes it all on. I have leveled boat docks, pulled out posts and bushes. I've also changed tires and wheel bearing on utility trailers and boat trailers. It's very easy to operate. It has a long pump handle that cantilevers the lifting mechanism.

Sometimes you need to lift something tall or awkward and this is the only thing that will do it.
These farm style jacks are one of those tools that solve strange problems that nothing else will solve. You can lift a jacked up truck, pick up the side of a trailer, and pull fence posts all with the same tool. My house had an old split rail fence when I moved in and I was able to remove most of it with out too much trouble but four of the posts were stuck fast and wouldn't budge without digging several feet down. I put the jack in the hole of the post set the base and slowly worked it out. I was able to pull three posts in much less time than I spent digging out one post. Now when I have strange things to lift I don't have to ask my buddy if I can borrow his. I do recommend following the instructions to lubricate the lifting and lowering mechanism, it makes it much easier to switch directions.

Made to work
This is a heavy, tall, jack made to work hard. It isn't the type of jack to carry around all day because it is heavy. The mechanism works smoothly and it stands tall enough to lift a higher pickup or farm implement. This and all similar jacks can hurt you if you are not aware of their purpose and cautions, but it is invaluable and necessary around the place.

No stranger to Farm Jacks
I'm no stranger to farm style jacks. I had them when I was into off-roading. These jacks are great. They help you with vehicles with oversize tires. Lifting trailers. Lifting loads. Acting as a make shift come-a-long. Plenty of accessories are available for these. The mechanism is a tried and true one. Ratcheting is smooth. Release is a simple lift of the lever to reverse the ratcheting action. If you own a truck, a trailer, are a farmer, or an industrialist, you should have at least one, if not more of these. They work great, and are awesome when you are in a pinch and need power. Well made. Heavy. I recommend this. A+ 5*s. Thank you Home Depot for allowing me to try your product and offering it to me.

Great Jack to have around.
This jack is a great quality item that is pre-assembled, ready to go and has a great capacity. As a handyman jack can only be improved so much, given the design, the handle clip is a good idea to keep the handle fastened to the staff. It has a 7000 lbs capacity, which gives a person great versatility in its use. I would definitely recommend this product to someone else.

I’m glad I have my own 48 inch 3-1/2-ton Husky Farm Jack now and don’t have borrow one. It works great as a bumper jack, clamp or winch.
In the past I have used farm jacks to remove cedar bush roots/ small stumps. Simply dig around the roots/stump and wrap with a chain. Place the bottom jaw of the farm jack in a loop in the chain. Proceed to pull the root/stump vertically and adjust the set up as required. I have also pulled out fence posts with a similar method. My new Husky Farm jack works great. A single latch switches the jack from lifting the load (in the upper position, see pic) or lowering the load (latch in the lower the position, see pic). You can use a Farm Jack as a bumper jack to change a tire or use the farm jack as a clamp (see pics) or like a short throw wrench (see pics). To clamp an item, just rotate the clevis jaw 90 degrees at the top of the jack. Next work the Farm Jack like you were raising a load and squeeze the item between the upper and lower jaws of the jack. When using the farm jack as a winch, secure a chain strap to an anchor point and hook to the lower jaw. Connect a strap or chain to the item you want move around the upper jaw. With the jack in lift mode ratchet the handle and pull the load. Every situation is different and may require adjustments as you use the Husky Farm Jack. But if you’re out in the boonies and need 3&½ tons of pulling force there is nothing better to have with you. The Husky Farm Jack ratchet mechanism works very well and allows for controlled lift and lowering. I would recommend this tool to anyone working outdoors and that finds themselves needing to lift, pull or clamp something.

One Heavy Duty Jack
This jack is not for lightweights. It is beefy and stout. It takes two hands to handle this tool. It is strong and versatile. You lift, pull or stretch with it. The handle is plenty long and has a strong clip to hold it in place. Some jacks like this always have the handle loose and flopping around. The top jaw can be removed and bolted below the moveable jaw for spreading lifting where the base won't fit. If you are willing to carry this along it will do the job for you.

Great Deal for Sturdy Implement
I've long wanted an off road style jack to carry in my old Scout II Traveler. But, just never got around to getting one...until now. This unit from Husky is simple and sturdy and can get the job done. From lifting or winching the Scout out of trouble in the backwoods to pulling fence posts at my suburban home. There are name branded, specialty jacks like this that have more options and look fancier for off road use. But, they are much more expensive and don't offer that much more utility. No assembly is required. The lower jaw sits just over 4" off the floor at full down. That same jaw goes up to a maximum of just over 40". Maximum weight is 7,000 lbs with the jaw at its lowest position and decreases to 2,000 lbs with the jaw at its max height. The foot piece is a bit small. But everybody I know includes some sort of large base in with their jack like this for when they need a broader, sturdier base to use. A clip spring is on the handle that easily snaps the handle up parallel to the steel standard bar. Making for easy compact stowage. The jaws can be used to lift, pull or compress. But you do have to unbolt the top clamp clevis to set it straight up. It's easy to lift the reversing latch for raising a load. But I found I needed a hammer to knock it back into the down position. And there's no handle or other object to knock that latch anywhere on the jack assembly. That cost this jack 1 star in my rating. The handle requires a full, 90 degree motion for each step up and down. Overall, I'd recommend this Husky farm jack

Awesome tool!
This is an awesome tool to help with pulling posts or lifting vehicles. I saw that some of the reviews mentioned that the user was unable to get the jack to go either up or down. I had no problems. There is a little chromed lever that has to be flipped to select either upward or downward movement. Perhaps others aren't reading the instructions, because this thing is built with the same design that has probably been used since WWII. It is a proven design. It is built like a tank. It's all steel with the exception of the handle, which is aluminum. I imagine they used this material to save some weight because this jack is already about 30 pounds. I highly recommend this product!
