Yes, but it will bend under weight, I'm 185 and it bent when I put my full weight on it, I had to keep rotating it.
Would this work as a spud bar for ice fishing?

I have never used it for fishing, but it is very sturdy. I would think it would work for ice fishing

I live in a residential neighborhood in Tennessee and all the homes are build on several feet of rock/gravel. I was only able to dig a few inches with my shovel before I hit large rocks. The tamping bar made this MUCH easier. I was able to dig a hole for a tree in 20-30 minutes.
After using a mattock and sawzall (pruning) blades, it was time for me to get a spud bar because I was eating through blades so quick that I could have saved money and my time with this Husky 69 in. Post Hole Digger and Tamping Bar.
When I got home from picking this bar from Home Depot, I was able to chop our 2 tree roots around a tree in my front yard in under 5 minutes for both, when in the past it would take me 5 minutes for a section, which did not include setting up my sawsall and running an extension cord to power it.
You can go wrong with this digging and tamping bar, it is solid and effective for chopping tree roots. I am looking forward to using this for digging holes where my mattock would not be able to get deep into. Go get one and save time!

I have always wanted one of these tamping bars for digging out rocks at the bottom of post holes, but I couldn't see paying the big expense just to get the rocks out until I started a redecking project. I researched how to pull up the old deck boards and folks were recommending a long pry bar. Anyway I bought this bar to pry up the old deck boards and then have it for post hole digging later. This bar makes quick work of prying up the old deck boards. This tamping bar has a flat sharp business end. The boards pop right up under the force of this bar. Works great! If you are considering buying a pry bar for prying up deck boards consider buying this post hole tamping bar as it is half the price of an actual pry bar and gets the job done quick. To avoid having to bend over to pick it up you can add a bungee cord to the end such that essentially you stick it between the boards and drop it and pull it back up with the bungee sort of like a yo-yo action. Good luck with your projects!
Heavy, powerful, easy to use, indispensable. As a fencing Contractor I keep at least two of these in my truck at all times. they are that useful. As a cement tamper, as a cement bag opener, for loosening extremely hard soil while digging fence post holes, for prying rocks and bricks out of fence post holes, for splitting concrete off of old fenceposts that have snapped off in the ground, for levering chainlink fence that has become buried and locked to the earth by english ivy roots, demolishing old fence, chopping through concrete.... heck I even used on of these to pry my truck door open far enough for me to use a wire to unlock it when I locked the keys inside on a jobsite in the middle of nowhere.
Its a very simple tool. A lever.
but levers simultaneously the simplest and most versatile tool you'll ever have. this one is good.
