Husky 8 in. Classic Bypass Pruner Shears
These hand shears have a non-slip shock-absorbing coating on their handles which has just the right resilience and enough girth to secure a firm grip while clenching one’s fist to manipulate them. A “bolster” contour meets the web of one’s hand at the thumb, lending a confident grasp and allows that same digit to operate the (red) ‘keep closed’ latch by memory. That well-thought handle design is seen on Photograph 1. The secure latching mechanism slot is shown on Photograph 2. Note that moving the slider down to lock the shears closed is intuitive. The stop pin is a measure of reliability. The sleeved coil retracting spring is a favor to gardeners as it is less likely to harbor detritus that might convey infection from one plant to another. (Dunking the shear head in a jar of alcohol at the potter’s bench is a remedy. And these shears withstand that.) Cleaning the blades of pitch and sap can be done with mild detergent. But frequent sterilization minimizes the need. As for lubrication, mineral oil is best in the garden, though I’ll use vegetable oil in a pinch (not so much). Photograph 3 shows some functional details of these bypass shears. Ease of use further is enhanced by beveling the blade across its face. The adjusting nut incorporates a Ny-Lok type insert that helps to retain its position through repetitive cycling. Photograph 4 shows that the anvil / hook blade has a blunt seating surface to hold stems in place while shearing. And the hook-and-scimitar curved cutting edge keeps stems near the throat of the shears for heightened mechanical advantage. Because of those advantages yielding minimal operator effort my wife uses these to gather all those garden cuttings not harvested by pinching or use of scissors. Those include tough pithy stems like roses, robust stems like irises and woody stems like rhododendrons. See photographs 5 and 6. These shears are convenient enough that they come right along to re-fresh the stems when finishing the arrangements.

Strong, cuts great, sturdy!
These are incredible well made, string, sturdy, cut like a hit knife through butter. The center spring easily opens up the cutter taking away the hand fatigue from repeated use. Very well made as I accidentally dropped them on the concrete driveway and not one scratch on them. Backed by the typical fantastic Husky warranty! They cut right through oak branches too which is great!

Good for light pruning
I am going to give these an average rating. They are very thin stamped construction. For light homeowner use, they will probably last a long time. The plastic lock-unlock button is positioned well so it doesn't get locked accidentally while you are pruning. Handles are padded. The spring requires just the right amount of pressure to close. The shears will fit back into the plastic bubble package for storage if you desire.

Simple and effective
Solid pruners that function quite well. There’s not much about them that’s earth-shattering in terms of function or design, but then again one would be hard-pressed to improve much on something so simple. There’ve been no minuses, and the pluses are a solid, sturdy feel; coated grips to keep your hands on them (even when you’re sweating in the Georgia heat), and a simple thumb-slide lock for securing them for storage.

Decent pruners for light use
This is a nice set of pruners, they come out of the package sharp and ready to go. The grip is comfortable for light use, however, I don't think it will work if you use these for any extended time. It will also likely be uncomfortable for users with smaller hands. The functional side works great. I got clean easy cuts on both living plants and on a dead sapling. The biggest issue I have with these is the locking mechanism. It's a slide that doesn't seem to be designed that well, it's uncomfortable to use, and seems to be made in a way that it will break sooner rather than later.

Sharp & Easy to Use
I ordered the Husky Classic Steel Bypass Pruner to prune my garden. In the pictures you will see the clean cut on the banana tree. I absolutely love these clippers. I have very small hands and these are exceptionally easy to grip and cut with. If you have a garden like me, they are fantastic for cutting squash, zucchini, eggplant, etc. I absolutely would order another pair and highly recommend.

Strong and sharp
Husky are going back to the timeless design with the stainless steel spring which opens the shears. The amount of force is just enough to keep them open but not to add to fatigue. Combined with the rubberized grips made from nylon and butadiene rubber overmould make it very comfortable to work with during longer period of time without gloves and without worrying about getting blisters. the jaws open at 1-1/2" at the top and are rated for 5/8" max cut width although it can take up to an inch pretty easy. There is a thumb lock to keep the shears in a safe position. The pivot connection is bolt with plastic retention ring to prevent it from becoming loose, but it can be taken apart for cleaning and sharpening. I didn't see information on the steel, but I didn't see much flex on the entire tool. The base jaw is parkerized where the upper, cutting jaw has non-stick plating making it very easy to clean. It's a great old new tool which comes at an unbeatable price and even better quality of time proven design and materials used. Very Nice Pruner Shears
my wife needed a new pruner, this one looked good and the price was right so i ordered it. it arrived in 3 days in new condition. my first thought was, these look to be very good quality. the rubber coated handles are very comfortable, the blade is sharp and you can unlock the shears with one hand. i know it is just a Pruner Shears but it is well made and priced right. my wife loves them.

Well made
These Husky Classic Steel Bypass pruner is a “must have” if you are going to do any yard work. The quality of this pruner is excellent. It is made with hardened steel, 5/8 maximum cut width and has a lifetime guarantee I don’t think I will ever have to use. The non-slip grip makes it easy to grip with either hand and it glides well when cutting a shrub. There is a clasp to keep it closed when not in use, so it makes it small when putting it way. I spent a half hour trimming some shrubs and it worked really well. Lastly, it’s not very heavy, so if you are older, your arms are less likely to hurt.
