Q:Has anyone tried to replace the wood with their own? I want to replace the "dog" sign with some black walnut. FYI for newbies the wood dents pretty easily so I don't think its a good wood but I love the design/style.

A:  Removing any part of the knife will void your warranty and is a potential safety issue. Not recommended.

A:  (From a pro knifemaker:) You *could*, if you have decent skills. Remove screws, scales (probably glued; remove glue). Make new scales (walnut: fill grain! use sanding dust + also look into using CA glue as seal/finish). Shape/drill FIRST, fit, be happy.

Q:Is this knife effective and strong enough to cut or score plexiglass or acrylic plates (sheets) ?

        Answer This Question

A:  Yes, depending on the thickness of the plexiglass you may have to score multiple times. A true plexiglass cutter has a small hook blade at the end that helps remove scored material from the score line. Hope this helps!!

Pretty good looking knife, definitely a must have if you don’t like to be carrying a box cutter on your belt. The only thing I would change is the clip is to high, so it hangs from your belt down too much.

I had 2 of these so far. My first one i found it at a job site in the crawl space i came back for a loose air vent and was the last company there, a couple months later it magically disappeared oh well right? I liked it enough that i ended up buying one when i came across it at the store days later. I had this one for over 2 years and the blade latch wont clip in anymore i found out while i was cutting somthing today and almost took my finger off (used to it) . The cause was the broken aluminu

              Durable.
I've been everything from iron worker to warehouse worker and I can definitely say that this knife holds up better than any other knife I have ever owned. Holds an edge well and it sharpens easily. I have had this knife going on 3 years now and still in extremely heavy use today.

                Pictures don't match
I scroll through a couple of the pics of the sliver and black utility knife but i received all black. Checking back and scrolling further i saw all black utility knife as well. So should take out images that don't match what your actually getting.

                    Cut you like a knife!
Metal shard sticking out of assembly screw cut me before I realized it was there. Knife blade does not line up when closing requiring two hands to close the blade. Poor quality item.

So I got the Husky 2.99 in. Chrome Wood Utility Knife which also included a wood handle folding sport knife and they came as a set. They are very nicely weighted not just your cheap lightweight knives. They appearance is very pleasing. I really liked the wood handle with the black blade and accents. It makes is look very classic and timeless. The lock back utility knife has the wooden handle with black as well. I am not really sure why they call it chrome, but to me it’s better this way. Out of the package I noticed they both had the thumb pins on both sides to open them. In all fairness they are very tight but I am sure they will loosen a bit over time. The tips of both knifes actually fit within the handle so there is no worry or care of catching yourself if you carry it in your pocket or if you like wearing it on the outside of your pocket it won’t poke the seats! Being someone that has frequently lost blades while cutting with a utility knife I love the design of this one!! There is actually a lock on it that is a bit of a bear to open but like the knife itself I am sure it will loosen a bit with use. You actually have to slide the lock then drop the blade cover down to get the blade out. This alone is enough for me to be a huge fan. They both have clips on them so they are easy to hook on your pocket if you wish. They both lock open securely and close just as securely. They sport knife blade was nice and sharp. The blades are made of stainless steel so I am sure they will hold up well and last through plenty of hard work. These are nice enough of quality to consider giving them as gifts during the holidays to the guys around the office. . Husky built a great product with these and is backing it with their lifetime guarantee which is pretty awesome in my opinion. This set is awesome and I would definitely recommend it!

Great quality knife set with attached belt clips. I am amazed at the quality of these knives. Includes not one, but two knives with wood handles. They have a good sturdy feel unlike cheaper made cutters. My husband was amazed at how well they cut. We are buying another set for his tool belt. The sporting knife measures a little over 7 1/2" long when opened, and the utility knife measures 6 1/2" long when opened. Love the wooden handle and the handy attached belt clip. Both fold and lock. A real plus is the utility knife accepts standard size utility blades. No running around town trying to find special replacement blades. This set surpassed my expectations. I highly recommend it.

The price is right for these two stylish knives. One is a utility knife that I used to cut drywall and the other is a stainless steel sport blade knife that is perfect for small cutting jobs. The steel blade actually has a portion of it that is serrated, which easily cut through a piece of rope that I had been using outdoors. Both knives come with a locking mechanism that secures the blade in place, so there is no concern that the knife will close while being used. The utility knife has a picture on it that shows how to replace the standard size utility blade - which was easy to do. Lastly, another nice feature is that both knives come with a belt clip. Overall, I am very happy with both knives - and they are both backed by a lifetime warranty.

These knives are nice. It's not SUPER smooth, but I am able to open both the knife and utility knife with one hand, which is pretty useful. I don't know if it is designed this way as a safety feature or not, but it is a bit more difficult to close with one hand. Both knives have a spring loaded locking mechanism that you press from the back of the handle to then allow the blade to fold into the knife handle. If you press this and shake the knife, I'm able to get it to fold in enough to then press the back of the blade against my leg or something to fold it up one handed. It will not just swing loose once it is unlocked and potentially swing into your fingers, which is good. The utility knife swings a little looser, but you're less likely to have any issues because the black blade holder will likely hit your finger rather than the blade. Both knives have belt clips that allow you to clip them onto your belt/pants pocket for easy access. The clips are pretty tight, but I imagine they will free up a little as time goes on. The clip for the knife goes all the way to the top edge of the knife handle, so you'll really only see the clip if you choose to put this in your pants pocket. The clip for the utility knife on the other hand, would show the top half inch or so of the handle. The utility knife uses standard utility knife blades, so replacement is fairly easy when needed. The knife is sharp out of the package. I'm easily able to slice through a sheet of notebook paper using the non serrated portion of the blade. The package was also fairly easy to open, so you won't need a separate cutting utensil to open up your new cutting utensils. The knives themselves are a good weight weight as well. They are not so light that they feel like they will break the first time you use them, but not so heavy that they will weigh you down if you keep them in your pocket/bag all day.
