This window does not have any exterior trim attached to it. The width of the frame that you can see on the exterior is 1 9/16"
can one order a larger size for a bedroom window - like a 40.5 X 51.5?
This pattern is only available in 23.5" x 23.5", 47" x 11", and 47" x 47" sizes.

No, it doesn't open.
This window as shown does not open; however, it can be special ordered as an awning or casement window with the help of an associate at your local store. The operable style window would have a larger frame and would measure 27.25-in. x 27.25-in.
Does this become clear when water hits it, like frosted glass does when it gets wet?
It does not become clear when water hits it. The glass remains private regardless of moisture.
Can this window be used to replace an old window? The description reads new construction is why i am asking.
This frame is only for new construction installation (with nail fin); however, you can special order this same glass design and size with a replacement style frame (through-jamb installation) through your local store.
