Answer This Question

A:  I’m no expert but honestly I don’t see why not. It protects the wires connections once inserted and locked. I used them for my garage door sensor install and had no issues.

Q:I have AT&T internet service, inside the telephone box that the ethernet exit port that runs to the router/modem, has these connectors inside of it, could this be a reason for dropped service or is it compatible with the DSL connection that I receive?

      Answer This Question

A:  I have noticed that when these get real old they can get flaky but other than that there should be no issues using these with DSL. By the way that is not an Ethernet jack but just a phone jack. DSL is turned to Ethernet in the modem. If the connectors are good, then it's probably the phone line and you need to have the provider test it.

A:  My DSL has been up and running fine with these for the last 5 years. They are a perfect solution for splicing phone wires as they are self sealing. You don't even remove the insulation from the wires. Just push them in and squeeze the colored cap with a pair of pliers.

A:  DrJay these are olde telephone splicing connectors and usually not used for high speed data applications. I would check with your provider to see what they prefer. Hope that helps Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com

          Answer This Question

A:  Hi JW the connectors are rated for 19-26 AWG and usually doorbell wiring with fit in that range. While not rated for 18 AWG I have used it successfully. Hope that helps Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com

I use these with thin gauge wire for RGBW-LED lights that operate on 12V. They work perfectly and are silicon filled for outdoor or marine applications.

Response from Ron KipperMar 7, 2024
Hello we sell a special plier the 33-719 that has two parrallel jaws that crimp the connector squarely. If you use just a regular set of pliers you got to be careful you do not crimp one side too much that the caps open up. Just go a litle slower and don't over crimp the connectors and they should work for you have fun Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com
