Q:Does this have NSF-51 certification? I’m wanting to use a rigid PVC pipe with a NSF-51 certification pipe for irrigation for my market garden where food will obviously be grown. Thanks!

Q:I will be using this to direct water from a french drain for our garage entrance to the rear of the house. It will be under an area where we park our truck. How deep should this be buried to support that kind of stress without cracking?

Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for the note, AndyW. This is not an easy question to answer in that there are so many factors involved. The pipe in question has a stiffness factor of 46psi. Type of soil above the pipe (sand, gravel, clay, etc.), will have different weights. Then there's compaction factors of the soils. Will there be concrete above the pipe? If so, more weight, etc. Is the truck or normal pick up or is it a semi tractor? We would suggest that you consult with a geotechnical engineer for his/her input and direction. You might also consult your local codes for suggestions as well. Thanks!

A:  Hi, Jason - The product in question is made per ASTM D-3034 specifications. NSF is the agency certifying we're holding to that standard. If you could provide additional information that would enable me to answer your question more in-depth, that would be great. I can be reached at (661) 257-3923 X 1026 M-F from 8a - 2:30p. Thanks!

I needed some 4” drain lines and I almost bought 4” PVC pipe from contractor warehouse but when I pulled it off the rack it was thin walled and already deformed. The IPEX product was solid and relatively affordable. I would buy this again
