Deluxe Electric Ironing Center with Swivel

While I don’t iron much these days an ironing center is great to have for touch ups of shirts, scarves, pants, etc. So easy to set up and put away. Because of space limitations I shouldn’t have bought it with the swivel. It is a bit of a luxury but I’m glad I bought it. Works great.

Commercial quality ironing center with some handy features -- if you're willing to tackle the installation job. You'll understand the premium price the moment you open the box. Build quality is truly impressive, from the ready-to-prime-and-paint door to the cabinet-length hinge and the heavy, padded foldaway swivel board with spring assist. This can either be surface mounted or inset (it's 14" wide at the back, so fits between studs) -- inset will look much nicer, but of course will involve a cutout in your wall. I opted for surface mounting this in a spare room, using a couple of 4" structural screws straight into wall studs. The electric "raceway" offers several nice features -- a instant-on light fixture to illuminate your workspace, an electric timer that will eventually cut the power if you forget to turn off your iron, and a safety switch that shuts the power off when you fold up the board. Comes with unfinished wire ends for wiring directly into your power supply or adding a plug-end if you're mounting near near an outlet. The unit must weigh 70 or 80 pounds, so make sure you hit the center of your studs, and recruit an assistant. You'll need it. The results are well worth the effort, though, and yield a very well designed ironing center that keeps iron, ironing board, supplies, and cords neatly out of sight but readily available. Fantastic addition to a laundry or chore room. Highly recommended.

Iron-a-way AE42WDU Deluxe Electric Ironing Center with Swivel This Iron Away ironing center arrived in great shape and was packaged extremely well with no damage. I have installed several many of these units over the years. Every time I have installed these units the lady of the house has always been extremely happy for a quick set up of the ironing board to the self-timer that prevents accidental putting the iron away while still on. After pulling the iron board in place just turn the timer switch and the iron will be activated and the swivel light will come on directing light where you want it. This also alerts you that the iron is still on. With some many distractions now days this is a nice safety feature. The ironing board swivels left to right. Just look for wall studs to be spaced the typical 16 inch on center. This allows a 14 ¼ wide cavity that is needed to flush mount into the wall. Here the house had an electrical outlet that was easy to get power to the Iron away unit. This unit was installed in a typical tract home if you look closely I installed an additional drywall screw on both sides as there was no screws in drywall for quite a distance. The unit is photographed installed with out door as it was being painted at the time. Also see photos on the excellent job of packing to prevent the unit from getting damaged.

Deluxe Electric Ironing Center with Swivel I did not like ironing, but this convenient center makes the job easy, and takes away a lot of the negatives. I don't have to drag the ironing board out of the closet and set things up, just to do one collar. This ironing center arrived in perfect condition in a well cushioned box with extra layers of cardboard to protect the ends and corners. It is a strongly made and heavy unit that folds away to only inches. The easy-open cabinet and frame are unfinished, so we can paint it to match our woodwork. I find the thickly padded and covered board swivels smoothly to the angle or height I need, and I also like that I don't need to wait until the iron cools before putting it away. The cord to the iron always seemed to get in the way as I ironed in the past, but now the cord wrap keeps the cord up and out of the way, one of my favorite features. We did not have to worry if there was enough light in the location we chose for installation, since the unit has a built in spotlight that allows me to see where I need to press the fabric most. Without it we would have probably had to add another light fixture. The timer adds to the safety, as well as the electric cut off that turns off the power when the board is in the up position. Ironing just does not get better than this, it's now a job I don't avoid!

New construction and gas not been installed, but appears that it fully meets expectations
