Installing this door was far more difficult than we thought. Luckily my husband is handy, I could not have done it without him. Piece at top needed to be trimmed, and locking mechanism really had to be manipulated to work correctly. We made a few trips to hardware store to buy longer screws to fit appropriately. Once installed it has been great. Very sturdy construction. We had to train an old dog to do new tricks, but has been a game changer. Bonus- the plastic entry point is too heavy for the cat to escape!

Well constructed
I had some issues with the installation, icluding the side hangers whick keep the door from accidentally falling out, but made it work after some modification ( you must be very precise with their placement), the depth of the product shown as 2.5 inches is misleading, that is the measurement at the bottom with the flap, not overall. My patio sliding door is 1.75 inches wide and was just too wide for the door seals which attach to the side of the pet door, I could only use one of the two seals provided so I chose to use the one on the interior side. Another issue is when the pet goor is installed, the sliding door stays open and has a gap between the fixed sliding door and the door seals provided just dont totally keep the wind out, but this applies to all pet doors installed in sliding patio doors. I inserted a 7ft section of foam pipe insulation and that creates a solid seal. Be advised the glass panel is not double pane like the plexiglass door flap. My dogs got used to using it very quixkly. Overall I am satisfied with the product, even though it is pricey. I have received favorable comments about how well it complements the vinyl sliding patio door.

Did not work.
Huge issues, the sealing was not making a clean connection. This could be that my door was a bit larger than normal, these things are pretty standard in my experience.
The biggest issue is the locking mechanism. I considered modifying with something more robust, but in the end, decided to uninstall the whole unit.
Finally, and this on me, once installed it does not give much of a pass-through space if your sliding door frame is as small as mine was (9 feet).
