Is this compressor rated for continuous operation?

No piston compressor is capable of having the motor and pump run continuously. They typically have a 60% duty cycle (meaning motor running 60% of the time and off 40% of the time). That's not to be confused with the CFM rating of the compressor. If the manufacturer lists 100% duty cycle they are referring to the fact that it can output the rated SCFM (14.3 @ 90psi in this case) 100% of the time. However when the pump is running it actually produces more SCFM than this and it uses the tank to allow it to store air, shut off and cool down.

Can the motor be wired to 240 3phase, and what is the motor rpm

We have 208v 3phase for power, can we use this model? Typically we are at 205v actual.

Asked by Hoagiel September 26, 2016

Answer

Using your voltmeter, measure across all phases, L1, L2, L3, try all combinations to see the highest RMS voltage. Match highest voltage observed to the Ingersoll model voltage designation, 200v, 230v, .. You want to get the model that is closest to the voltage that you measured. You said you measured 205v, then you want the 200v version.

I'm able to plug into my home power or is it too much volts for my home to power up ? lcomet me know please?

Answer

It would depend on how many amp service you have at your house. If you have a 200 amp service box and can put a 40 amp breaker in it then you should have plenty of power.

How can I wire it to a 220 service

Like others have said, it comes with no oil and for some stupid reason, Home Depot does not sell the oil for it that will get you either your one or two year warranty. Comparing it to my old Craftsman oilless air compressor, this thing is quiet. It takes about 8 minutes to go from 0 psi to 175 psi. pretty good for 80 gallons. It is a pain to get it off the pallet. It is very top heavy and no where to get a good hold on it. Get a couple buddys and a 12 pack and it's not as bad.

Ingersoll-Rand TS4 5HP 80 Gal
Do not buy a Ingersoll-Rand compressor. We purchased the Ingersoll-Rand TS4 5HP 80 Gal. and the motor went bad and we had to replace at our expense (they do not answer their 800#). Then we found out the oil drain plug was drilled 3/8 to high to drain all the oil which leaves all the dirt and contaminants at the bottom. Another issue though minor is they put in a 50¢ water drain plug which never worked.
