Product Overview
Acacia butcher block hardwood is hard, strong and tough with a density of 600 kg/m3 comparable to Teak. By comparison White Oak has a density of 755 kg/m3 and Radiata Pine has a density of 515 kg/m3. This panel is made in Vietnam from plantations with a Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certification. Acacia has very good wood-working properties. It is suitable for indoor and outdoor use since it has inherent natural wood oils. In fact, acacia is the most-used hardwood for wet environments including kitchens, outdoor furniture and deck tiles. The acacia panels are glued with D4 glue suitable for outdoor use with no formaldehyde. All acacia countertops are finished with Interbuilds top-rated hard wax wood oil finish that is 100% free form Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).

AnswersMy apologies, there are 2 live edges, not 1 as I previously stated. I only used 1 side live as the other side is up against the window wall.

AnswerHi James. Thank you for the question. Our product is acacia hardwood and comes in an unfinished state. You must seal this product. If you are going to use this outdoors I do not recommend you leave it out during the winter. We do sell Hardwax Oils to seal our products at Home Depot. They come with colour included and also clear. AnswerI didn't notice any wax or oil. I used mineral oil for finish after sanding. Mineral oil will not go bad as vegetable oil will.

I bought this item as an island top. It was heavy and hard to transport home, so when I noticed mine didnt have a live edge, I kept it anyway to avoid all the trouble of returning it and waiting for a new one to arrive at the store. It was easy to install and it stains beautifully. However, 3 weeks in and with just a 10 inch overhang, the wood is now bowing and the overhang is curving down toward the barstools. We are going to have to install some L brackets to support this standard overhang. Pretty disappointed in this purchase. I would definitely spend the money and get a real butcher block top elsewhere. Not sure if it’s the quality of the acacia, or if I received a completely different product. At this point it is too late to return it for sure. One star for how pretty it is. 0 stars for quality.

Interbuild is taking action to reduce shipping and handling damage with improved factory packaging. With a 10 inch overhang we recommend L brackets every 2 feet. Acacia wood is a natural hardwood with a natural blend of color. All our products will need to be sealed. We put one coat only on our products. This made my custom project turn out great. The acacia wood has a lot of character and contrast. The live edge is a very attractive attribute. The butcher block top just needs a little sanding before finishing. I was looking for something that would make my custom kitchen island unique. The cabinets, trim, limber, and door hardware were purchased from Home Depot. I just had to connect everything together.

We purchased 2 different tops and brands for the kitchen remodel. The Interbuild with live edge and Hampton Bay without live edge.
The Interbuild wasn't glued to the quality I expected. When I trimmed 4" off the end, the trimmed piece fell apart. So I changed plans on which top was going in which place. The appearance was better than the Hampton Bay, however not the total finish. They both look great where they are placed.
Hampton Bay I would rate a 4 star by quality alone.
Wear a particle mask and long sleeves when cutting and especially sanding!
I would purchase both again.
