          Hope it’s ok
The pics show how we found it today. Hope it’s ok. Not super thrilled so far. I only recommend this product if your delivery is better than ours was.

            Arrived Broken
Quality shelf, but it arrived broken and cracked in several places. Also had missing screws.

              Very sturdy, but not easy
Putting this together was interesting to say the least None of the parts are actually labeled, so you have to try to decipher which piece is which based on the picture, which DOESN'T give the best detail. But once put together, it is very sturdy, and seems like it should hold up for a while.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED / Great for Books
Exceeded all expectations! Hardwood quality evident when I drilled added holes to adjust shelf. Even back panel is real wood, w/ screws not nails. WELL packaged: thick, soft plastic (no styrofoam) & protected corners. Easy assembly. (TIPS: don't tighten top shelf until back panels are fully inserted into groove; carefully align and pre-drill back panel holes into fixed shelves.) Unknown load-per-shelf, but use for books with confidence. NOTE: "Expresso" is darker than in listing (see photos).

Very difficult to attach back pieces
Item is as pictured. Not overly natural looking. Very difficult to attach back but looks okay from front. The wood has a strong chemical odor that is still noticeable. Overall this brand is sturdy. I painted a desk of the same brand - pleased with that.

It is solid wood and was fairly easy to assemble by myself. My one disappointment was that none of the shelves is tall enough to hold my large books upright, so I had to lay them flat, which is not too big of a deal. The description of the bookcase didn’t include shelf heights. I really liked picking it up at my local Home Depot and saving the shipping charges.

                    Not entirely wood
The sides and shelves are all real wood. However the back is made of very thin plywood/pressed wood. I purchased the 72 inch tall bookcase. If you are looking for a stable bookcase, do not purchase this. It wobbles forward even when filled with books. It will need attached to a wall for stability. When assembled and painted, the bookcase looks excellent from the front - very nice and expensive looking. (It's too bad it's not a higher quality). There was a defect on the bookcase I received. There was a metal piece that was put in the wrong hole where the pegs for the shelves are supposed to be inserted. I didn't notice it until pushing the shelf into place which caused a hole through the other side of the wood. I'm not able to put holes in the wall to secure the bookcase.. I'm not sure how I'm going to keep it stable.

I never write reviews because basically I am never satisfied but this is by far the best quality boxed furniture I have ever bought. I was amazed at the details. The instructions were typical. The wood was real and the extras and hardware were a plus. I am so impressed.

This bookcase is very well made. I ordered the 36-inch and 72 inch. All the parts were there and it went together very easily. This is the only bookcases that I could find that were actually wood not that cheap particle board. I ordered them unfinished because I want to paint them antique white to match my TV console. I wouldn't hesitate to buy these books cases because they're actually very well made and look beautiful. Photo shows them unfinished. My husband put them together so I think it's best that if you're a woman who isn't strong enough to use the Allen wrench to tighten the screws you should find someone to put them together for you. They were well packed and protected from damage but the boxes were a little opened when they were delivered. The shipper should secure the the boxes better with more tape. UPS man had a difficult time with delivering the 72 inch because it's a two-man job. The 72 inch should be delivered by Home Depot by 2 men. Do not put these bookcases together in your home. I would advise to put them together in a garage with the door open or outside because they contain formaldehyde which is a wood preservative. They need to be put together in a ventilated area. When you finish them or paint them it will seal them and then you don't have to worry about the formaldehyde.
