Can squirrels chew through this product? We have a hard durable plastic gutter guard and the squirrel(s) are repeatedly chewing through it and we have had them in our attic so they may get back in. They running back and forth through it making a lot of noise in the early morning. Its late March so it could be a mother thinking underneath it is an ideal place for a nest until heavy rains come. I was told they could chew through aluminum. This is metal but I don't want to spend the money, time installing if its known squirrels have or can also chewed through this product.
Asked by: Tom
Very unlikely - the metal is relatively heavy gauge - it's similar to the material you put up to block rodents from getting into your house.

Metal Lock-In Gutter Guard (25-per Carton) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 224.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Invisa flow lock in metal gutter I have to say I am stall these and they are awesome bass fit securely on the lip of your gutter so you don't have to use any screws please do not listen to the people that say water flows over them they do not I was so concerned about this that I actually went to my car inserted it near the trunk to act like a roofline and dump 2 bottles of Holand Spring water to see if the water would run over them they would not no matter at what angle I tried it at I also can vouch because I have installed them on my house today during a heavy rain and they work fine there is no run off I think that people were reviewing the other brands the ones with the fine mesh filter obviously the less holes you have the more chances you have of water flowing over the com I really get frustrated when mixed reviews are for different products but labeled all under one product please buy these I recommend them

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Inexpensive and effective I am a pro who has even written articles for national trade magazines. Through the past few years, I've done my own testing with various gutter guards, including the very expensive type with micro stainless steel screen. But if you read/listen carefully, you'll discover that what they guarantee is that the gutters will stay clean. That might be true, but what's the use, if water never gets to them? The fine mesh of the expensive types invariably gets clogged, making the gutters ineffective. Last year, we concluded that a #5 hardware cloth works best overall, and that's about the size of the holes on these guards. The small amount of debris that gets through usually washes out (although I do have the advantage of having PVC gutter drain pipes instead of the flexible corrugated pipe). A bonus is that these could not be easier to install. The galvanized coating with powder-coat paint is icing on the cake. Save your money and get these gutter guards.

Easy to install, and have no problem accepting the heaviest down pours thru them without spilling over the edge. They keep everything out. That's the good... The bad...……….DO NOT BUY THESE IF YOU LIVE IN AN AREA THAT GETS SNOW !!! They have rendered my gutter system useless when it snows. When it snows on them, they become solid, and do not pass the melting snow thru to my gutters. I now have HUGE icicles on my gutters after our first snowfall in Chicago. I am hoping for a warm day to go up and remove them so I don't get water damage from the ice dams they have created.

First and foremost, I spent about 3 days, 4 or so hours reading the choices out there.... Five stars for ease of install, just need heavy duty wire cutters. Measure and trim as needed for corners and ends of the gutters. Second, covers gutters and keeps leaves and such out.... 5 stars.. Third, handling of rainfall water, 3 stars, mild rainfall to medium rainfall good. Heavy rainfall is going to "skip" or run over if the pitch is steep from the shingles to the outer edge of the gutter. So, you have to ask, am I buying these to cut 99.5% of leaves collecting in, my gutters or am I worried about the rain water properly falling into the gutter? Installed for 3plus weeks... I choose leaf blocking... Hope this helps

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great product This is a great 6" metal gutter guard. It matches the other HD metal guard that fits the 4" and 5" gutters from Amerimax. The 5" guard is sold by the piece or by the case of 25 pieces. On my home I have 4" , 5" and 6" gutters. I wanted all of the gutter guard to match. I was unaware that HD carried this product. I found this product in the other big box store, by the piece or by the box of 25 pieces. I then went to the HD web site after I had the manufacturer name and part number. I found it on the HD web site. Downloaded the page and went to the store and ordered it. It was shipped quickly and I have almost all of it installed. Looks great and matches my other gutter guard. This should guard should be stocked by the piece and by the box. In a closing note HD does carry the Amerimax metal 6" guard. Each piece is 4' long. It is only sold by the case of 25 pieces which is 100'. The good news is this other brand is 3' per piece and is 75' per box. I recommend this product.

Use tin snips to work around obstructions. Haven't been through a leaf-dropping season yet, but look like they'll be very effective - and a real bargain at only $1/ft - gutter man quoted 4x that

Slid under starter row of shingles and on top of metal edging. Fit front of guttering nicely. Sometimes after pulling down one side the other, previously fit, end would ride up. Just something to watch for.
