What is the main difference between this one for $169 and the other Jackson wheelbarrow for $99? Just heavier grade steel? They look the exact same. Is it worth the extra money?
Asked by: Michael
It has a ball bearing wheel with a standard zerk grease fitting. Folded metal tub is relatively stronger than the stamped one.

What are the benefits and drawbacks of a folded steel stray vs a non-folded steel tray? Which has thicker steel? Which may last longer?

Asked by: Rob
Given how wheel barrows can be used, abused and forgotten about, the folded model offers a little more piece of mind, especially if you are trusting someone other than you to use it appropriately. It's structurally stronger.

6 cu. ft. Heavy Gauge Folded Steel Wheelbarrow is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Wheelbarrow, but not the "Heavy Gauge" I was expecting.... Nice Wheelbarrow, but not the "Heavy Gauge" I was expecting. In all honesty, I think the steel is about the same gauge as what is in my 1984 Hechinger's stamped wheelbarrow(Probably made by Jackson). For some reason Jackson does not advertise the gauge they use in their different models, even if you contact their customer service. This wheelbarrow requires assembly and Jackson has cost reduced the package by not including any flat washers.....c'mon guys...we're talking pennies here! All pieces are fastened using machine bolts and serrated lock nuts These are not to be tightened up against wood as they only chew it up, only to work themselves loose later. Also when tightened against the lower legs, the legs will walk around and twist as the nut is torqued. I installed flats on all to solve this problem. My 1984 Hechinger's came with Nuts and Washers......Jackson, are you listening.

Bought with a gift card from my daughters for Father's Day.Order came in ahead of schedule and in good condition. All parts were accounted for and good instructions. Looks too be heavy duty, put for the price I would expected hardwood handles ( look to be southern maple)and a foam filled tire.

When I contacted the manufacturer, they mentioned that the bearing doesn't do anything anyway, so it doesn't need to spin freely. It is sad that this product has been ruined by Ames.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good, but could easily be better! Ok this seems to be an outstanding example of this ancient piece of equipment called a wheelbarrow! I liked the bearings enough that I upgraded my old wheelbarrow to bearings within a couple days. This wheelbarrow could be better however! My wooden handles where not made out of top grade wood and came rough with quite a few knots in places that make me a bit nervous. They seem to be a bit oversized so we're probably OK, but it could be better! I suppose it could be my imagination, but these tires seem to have gotten cheaper over the years and I immediately upgraded to a Kenda K371 Bias Trailer Tire - 4.80/4.00-8 - Load Range C (745 lbs. capacity) which feels like a real tire and should hold up to the weather and the wear and tear for many years! Time will tell, but I expect this wheelbarrow be around for many years!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seems sturdy enough, though if you're tall, this maybe a bit frustrating to use. Shipped in two boxes and assembled without too much effort. As some have mentioned, they provided carriage bolts for use in round holes. The only issue I had with that is with two bolts that go through the tray and into the handles. They're holding, but the heads aren't seating and left sticking out a bit, so the shovel catches onto them as you're digging material out of the wheelbarrow. Perhaps a couple of whacks with a hammer will get them to seat further. Oh, as far as frustrating to use for taller folks. I'm 6' 5" and when I'm pushing the wheel barrow, the front wheel guard sticks out and down so much that it's constantly catching on anything sticking up from the ground.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought this for my boy and his new house... Have used one exactly like this for about forty years. Folded tray, real ball bearing axle, pump up tire. Mixed a lot on concrete in it thru the years, hauled a lot of dirt, built like a tank. Hope he is as happy with his forty years from now as I am... ' Just ' a wheelbarrow... but a good one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing flimsy here! After a couple of smaller and less sturdy wheelbarrows, I was looking for something rugged which could hold up to heavy loads and roll easily. So far, this is it. It feels incredibly sturdy, rolls easily when loaded with heavy, wet clay dirt and looks like it will hold up. I've only owned it a few weeks but so far it appears to be well worth the money. It is not light weight. Assembly was straightforward; the directions were good. I feel I made a good choice in upgrading from the cheaper plastic options.

Getting ahold of the wheelbarrow was an expensive headache. I placed home delivery order for wheelbarrow, sakrete, lumber, rebar they charged me $55 extra delivery fee for the wheelbarrow?!?!
