James Hardie representative said in one of the questions that the board was waterproofed through the entirety of the board, then, why would it matter if it is gouged, I just don't get it, is it or is not completely waterproof?

breaks exactly where you don't want it to break
This has been awful to work with. Forget about nice clean breaks for narrow strips, for instance, the curb. I am diy'er and apparently cut it with a diamond wheel if you get it. I scored my pieces at least 1/4" with a 2x4 under the cut line and it still breaks wherever it feels. It was the most expensive option and worse than any 1/2 cement board I have ever worked with. I expect a bad batch just how it is so hard to work with.
