Should be comihg in stock
Yes... that's why I bought mine.. I didn't think it was too high priced.
I switched to the walking foot provided and I can easily sew through 3-4oz but the machine goes too fast to use the foot. I have to hand crank it and sometimes sticks when the needle comes out of the stitch. Keep in mind this was a single layer of leather
Proposition 65 is a California health and safety law. Because our products are sold in the state of CA, we are obligated to place a warning sticker on the packaging, and California is very strict about requiring it. Prop 65 requires warnings at exposure levels 1,000 times lower than levels provided to have no adverse effect. In the state of CA there are Prop 65 warning labels on many items and in many locations, including vehicles, facilities, restaurants airports, hotel lobbies, and parking lots. In addition, there are warning labels and signs about second hand smoke being hazardous, etc., and we will probably be seeing these warning labels on more and more products because of this regulation in CA. We do not know for sure if there are chemicals in our products that cause cancer. In order for a company to be sure of this, they have to research the chemical composition of every part in the sewing machine or product, which means the chemical make-up of every gear, bobbin case, bobbin, including the paints, plastics, and metals that make up the machine or product, etc. The list of chemicals is currently in the hundreds and nearing the thousands and the list changes every year, thus a new analysis would need to be done every year on every item that we make. The cost to do this would be extremely prohibitive and would significantly increase the cost of all of our products. Most companies, including Janome America, Inc., have opted not to do extensive testing at this time. Having said that, rest assured that our products are UL tested. In addition, Janome and its three factories are ISO 9002 certified in Quality Standards as well as ISO 14001 certified in Environmental Standards. These are quality standards that Janome sets for itself that are based on several quality management principles including a strong customer focus to ensure that customers get consistent, good quality products and services. Unless these products are ingested, we feel that they are as safe as any other product that we would not think of ingesting such as a phone or an appliance on our kitchen counter or a cleaning agent we use in our homes.
In general, the leather should be less than 4mm thick and if you will be sewing through more than four layers of fabric, it should be kept under 2mm thick.
While the HD-1000BE is able to sew through various types of fabrics, if the layers of fabric are too thick to lower your presser foot completely, you will not be able to engage the tension and a stitch will not form. If that is the case, you would need an industrial machine as opposed to a home sewing machine. We do recommend that you take a sample of what you will be working with to an authorized Janome dealer. Ask if he can use your fabric it in a demonstration of Janome sewing machines so you can determine if a Janome machine will meet your sewing requirements. You may also want to consider the Janome HD9 Professional, viewable at this link: https://www.janome.com/machines/sewing/hd9/ To locate authorized Janome dealers in your area, please visit our official website at: www.janome.com and click on “Find a Dealer” or “Where to buy”.
IF YOU ARE CAREFUL, you won't need anything else.
For sewing on vinyl, we recommend using the Janome ultraglide foot for front loading models such as yours. This foot is molded from a special resin, allowing easier sewing on vinyl that might otherwise stick to the standard metal foot. Regarding your piping question, we do not have a piping foot for this type of machine. However, If making or inserting extra wide welting, we would recommend the Janome adjustable narrow base zipper foot. Accessories may be ordered and purchased through local authorized Janome dealers. The measurement from the needle over to the arm on the right side of the machine is approximately 6.5".
