A:  The base is 13"x18", but there are 1" tabs on the short sides that allow you to bolt the base to the floor, meaning you will need to set up your mobile base to 13"x20" to accommodate the tabs.

      A:  With Jet, you have to pay attention to the stock numbers. In this case though the Jet stock number on the company website matches the "model number" on the Home Depot site:708457DXK. So I think there is a very good chance that the Home Depot one has the high mounted on off switch. Also most Jet tools are shipped direct from the manufacturer. In which case you can be certain that you are going to get the one pictured on the Jet website with the same stock number. Home Depot rarely answers the questions posed here. Home Depot does have a centralized customer service phone number. I've called it before. You might try asking there. You might try calling Jet. Personally, I would just go ahead with the purchase. The stock number is good enough for me. But then, I have a slightly older version with the stop switch on the front, lower down. I think they sell that high mounted switch is an accessory though. I know you can get them from third parties. Good luck with the purchase. I'd stay away from the helical head. But think about 8 inch if you can afford it.

      I got my Jet Jointer JJ-6CSDX yesterday. Picked it up at the local HomeDepot Store. The Jointer came in 2 large boxes wrapped in shrink wrap on a pallet. No visible shipping damage, everything looked great and all of the parts were there. The instructions were clear and It took me about an hour to put it together. It took 2 people to lift the bed assembly onto the stand- its really heavy! The jointer runs great - i will make all adjustments this weekend and attach to me dust collection system, cant wait to see it in action. It would have been nice if Jet had included the on-off switch padlock #709012 for the price of this jointer. I will definitely be ordering a mobile base in order to move this around in my shop since it weighs 260 pounds- about 60 bucks. Very pleased with HomeDepot and the ability to ship it back easily if it had been damaged, which it wasnt. Not so easy if Amazon has it dropped at your front door and you are not home when it shows up.
