Are the bags fabric/net or hard plastic? Can't tell by the picture.
Asked by: mic
The bags are fabric mesh. I have found them to be quite strong as I have snagged them on barbed wire a couple of times and they held together.

Are the included blades the high lift ones?

Asked by: Dave
The ones that were already installed on my mower were "regular" blades but another set of blades that were included as part of the purchase were "high lift" blades. I purchased a bagging kit after I purchased my mower and have never installed the high lift blades and the regular blades do a great job. I have a half acre hybrid bermuda lawn and have never had a problem.

John Deere 42 in. Twin Bagger for 100 Series Tractors is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 511.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from John Deere 100 series Bagger Overall, I think this bagger set up is par with others of it's type. I was disappointed that the description from Home Depot did not state that some tools are required to assemble the carrier initially. It took me two trips home to get the right tools (1/2" socket & wrench) You also have to use the blades that come with the kit, as the mulching blades I was using did not create enough suction for the bagger to vacuum correctly and caused the tube to fill up with clippings. With wet grass, make sure to check your bags and make sure you are indeed getting clippings collected, otherwise, you will need to clear out the collector tube that may have gotten clogged. With this stated, I would buy the bagger again (as there is no other option for this model). It does keep the clippings from spreading around the neighborhood! The bags are easily removed from the carrier. Good design, made of durable ABS plastic. It should last many seasons. Thanks, HD for your support and availability

The assembly instructions are clear and concise and with minimal tools it went together easily. This bagger is much more streamlined than baggers for other machines AND it was designed for use on the John Deere 100 series mowers. The reason I state this is it appears other manufacturers have a universal fitting mounting system which is bulky which is made to be adapted to other machines. I am using this on my JD E120 mower with 42” cutting deck. This bagger comes with high lift blades which work fantastically! Other brands do not supply an additional set of blades at nearly the same purchase price. The unit is a quality product, especially the bag frames which are made of metal. Other manufacturers use a plastic ring to support the bags. Again, this product is a quality designed and built product which I highly recommend!

Having owned many mowers and baggers in my life I can say this one works as good or better than the others. Total set up time was less than 1 hour , blades included. Just remember that you are building it upside down and how it needs to be in the upright position. READ the instructions then look at the pictures. Only thing I found that took some thought was the screen installation. But after looking at the angles it was clear. Bottom blower tube installed fairly easy after reading the instructions again. "Pin in hole, hook strap, push in place" Blades are correct length for a 42" deck. Left bag fills faster than the right but any bagger I've owned did this. When the left is full it will overflow filling the right. No problem with grass or leaves even sucked up the acorns ! Just remember it's limitations. It is not for hay fields or big piles of leaves that you raked up. I used it less than 24 hours after a heavy rain and had zero plugs. All in all really pleased.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from To Whom it May Concern - To be brief, ... To Whom it May Concern - To be brief, I am a long-time Residential owner of John Deere Garden Tractors. My latest, prior to this purchase, being the John Deere LX255 with an accompanying Bagger Unit. I have had it since April 1999. I chose the John Deere E120 with its 42" mower deck and an accompanying Bagger Unit. Both were good choices. However, I have returned the E120 and its Bagger Unit as well as the Extended Warranty Program plan and have chosen to purchase a John Deere DX330 with its accompanying Bagger Unit due to the perceived improved 'durability' for my lawn care situation and needs. Bottom-line, The John Deere E120 with its Bagger unit is a 'Good' machine. However, the John Deere DX330 with its Bagger Unit is an 'Excellent' machine.... For my needs.

Bagger is good but instructions are garbage and the installation is not easy. I am an engineer and had a tough time with the installation mostly due to the confusing instructions. You have to use the lift blades supplied or it will not bag all the clippings. Some people say it works with the standard blades, but not properly. Fitting the catcher to the mower deck is by far the hardest part, It is snug and hard to get just right. I was bleeding in a few places before I finished. Also the left bag now fills before the right. I saw a fix for this when I first got it, but did not have the issue then. Now that I have the uneven bagging I can no longer find he fix. The cover is bulky and you have to remove it to use the cart. Also the cover does not raise much to empty the bags unless you remove the top part of the chute. When I use the cart I remove the bags, cover, and the top part of the chute. I am hoping to never have to remove and reinstall the part that attaches to the mower deck again.

When mowing my lawn it fills quickly and must be emptied frequently. Once the bags fills the tube clogs. It is easy to clear the clogged tube. The assembly is not difficult. I recommend watching the videos on YouTube as they provide some better views of the assembly process. The hardest part is installing the high lift blades. The blade must be locked by inserting suitably sized block of wood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Time Bagger User I have never used a bagger on a lawnmower before, so have nothing to compare it to. I think this one is great. It fit perfectly onto my JD D130. I installed the mulch blade that came with it. It takes me longer to mow grass now, only because I have to keep driving back to the compost bins to empty the bags. They fill up fast. The only thing is that sometimes one bag fills up faster than the other, and there is only one notch on the shoot to adjust it. It was great in the spring to pick up dead leaves, and now green grass clippings. The easiest way to tell when the bags are full is to reach back and feel them. The only time the shoot would clog up is when the bags were full. A clogged shoot is easy to clear. I like this bagger. I am just starting a tree nursery and needed to start making my own compost. I have included photos.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Install Pretty easy to install, I ended up using a YouTube video as a fail safe. But in hindsight it was easy. Instructions provided were also pretty easy to follow. Minimal tools required. Also happy with its performance so far. I do wish their were lawn bags that are wide enough for dumping grass into, but that’s not relevant to product quality.
