About This Product

The John Guest 3/8 in. O.D. Push-to-Connect Valve is manufactured from white polypropylene and equipped with EPDM O-rings utilizing John Guest's push-fit technology to make an easy, reliable, leak-free connection. Developed to satisfy a wide range of applications it can be used on plastic or soft copper tubing. To make a connection, the tube is inserted by hand and the unique John Guest collet locking system holds the tubing firmly in place. Disconnection is just as easy and requires no special tools.

A:  Hi, The John Guest 3/8 in. O.D. x 3/8 in. O.D. NPTF Polypropylene Push-to-Connect Valve will work with mild steel. We do not recommend John Guest fittings for hard metal or chrome plated tubes.       A:  no a back flow allows water to flow in one direction. be careful not to in stall it in backwards.

        A:  As a building inspector I have to advise you that you must follow your jurisdiction's building codes. Our code requires a whole house backflow preventer to be located on the main street line at the house before any diversions are attached. Well owners are required to have the same protection. This would prevent any contamination to the utility or main source. It also requires all faucets outside to have hose back flow preventers. Likewise all underground irrigation must have backflow protection. Any irrigation injection system must have additional pressure regulation and backflow preventer. The code also requires ports for testing the system. Home Depot sells a brass backflow preventer and any store plumbing specialist would be able to lead you in the right direction. You can also go online to find this item.

        Q:The clerk at my local Home Depot said that plastic shut off valves were not good enough for use under sinks or toilets. Is this true? The descriptions for plastic valves with 90 degree shut off seem to indicate they are good for any plumbing use. I absolutely positively do NOT want to deal with any chrome plated shut off valves with oval multi turn off handles.

        A:  The manufacturer advised that these valves are excellent for under sink or anywhere else (outside the wall) up to 145psi.

          A:  Yes they are designed for that use ! The clerk probably doesn't know what end of a hammer to use, let alone the application of this or any valve .
