        A:  It holds the flapper open to let the tank flush. You can adjust the position of the foam by removing the black discs above and below the foam to adjust the float's position. The discs have a slit on one side to allow installation and removal.

            A:  Keep the lift chain straight up so it doesn’t get stuck under the flapper, since the foam can easily float in water for being a way less dense than this liquid.

              A:  The closer you move foam cylinder to flapper itself the longer the toilet will allow water to flush, so closer to flapper more water to help flush.

                  A:  It allows for a half flush for liquids only vs a full flush. You have to play with the position on the chain, which is adjustable.

                      Kohler 2 inch blue flapper valve tricks for float
                      Trick to adjusting light blue float is use needle nose plyers & pull off the dark blue chain retainers, set the float 1 1/2 inches above flapper, and reinstall the dark blue retainers. Instructions fail to tell that step.

                        Three steps: diagnose, select product, install. Diagnose - put some food coloring in your tank; if it leaks into the toilet bowl then you need a new Flapper. Select Product - check the bottom of your toilet tanks lid, usually part number is there. Install - pull off the old one; snap the new one in and then adjust the float.

                        Leaky flapper
                        This is the third time I replaced the flapper. The round skirt that’s supposed to sealed in water , loose about 3/4 gallon every 45 minutes and then the fill valve kicks in to recover the loss. I looked at the drain opening and could not see any deformities. The first time I replaced with a kohler brand but after it failed I used a “korkey “ , that is softer and made out of silicone.

                          Failed in 3 years
                          This genuine Koehler replacement flapper failed at the point of chain attachment to the flapper. The rubber loop on the flapper tore through. The triangular connector loop is metal and has sharp ends which probably caused the tear over time. The rubber of the flapper is soft. I replaced it with the same model and made an attempt to cover the sharp ends of the connector with tape and inverted the triangle on the rubber loop. Hopefully this will extend the life of this flapper.
