Awaken 3-Spray Multifunction Handshower with Slide Bar Kit in Vibrant Brushed Nickel

This Wall Bar Shower Kit is working well as installed, and my wife is very satisfied with it. We have no regrets about having is=nstalled as the picture shows.

First, I have two of the Kohler shower-head/bar combos. One is this one and the other is a Forte model, mostly metal with fittings included (more expensive). This one is almost all plastic with no fittings. ==== First impressions ==== Very light box, obviously plastic contents and thin plastic at that. Every part is wrapped in foam and tape. Very few parts. ==== Installation ==== Except for the hose coupling, there are just two screws to attach to the wall, one for each mount block. The blocks are plastic and attach with a screw into the wall. Two type of screw anchors are included, the usual small tubular ones and some hollow wall wing-type. The wing types do not appear in the instructions and can be tricky to install but are stronger and more permanent. The instructions here are confusing. They say to select locations directly on top of a stud and then to drill the two holes, but to NOT drill into the stud behind them. I don't see any reason to not drill into the stud and can see no way to install the anchors if the holes are atop the studs. Anyway, you then add sealant behind the plastic plugs that get screwed to the wall. You press the two slide bar "chrome" legs onto the blocks and install a set screw at each one, preventing the cover from coming off the blocks. This leaves it slightly loose with no way to tighten it. There are no included fittings for the hose except for the plastic 1/2" female one at the end. So, you will probably need an elbow or nipple fitting to attach the hose to the water supply. ==== Usage ==== Simple operation, just turn the head ring tab to one of 3 positions to adjust the spray pattern. Adjust the height angle and tilt of the head using the tensioner knob on the side of the bar slide fitting. I do like the fact that the adjustment range is not limited like the one on the Forte set. This one can be set from 0 degrees (straight up) to 90 degrees (to the right or left) or more. The fitting can be rotated horizontally to put the hose slot in the front if needed, but that does place the knob in the back, close to the wall. This all makes for the possibility of aiming the spray in almost any direction from any height. The attitude setting (aimed up or down) is made with a "click" detent so that it stays in place once set. Again unlike the Forte, which has no such capability or adjustment. There are 3 spray settings but no setting to stop or pause the spray. Almost all the parts are plastic which means the "chrome" finish is just painted on. And that means it will eventually wear off with repeated cleaning. This product is not made to last long. ==== Summary ==== Very inexpensive for the brand. Very low grade material for the brand. Simple but confusing installation. Painted-on finish. Easy and effective spray-head angle adjustments. No "pause/off" position for the spray-head. I can't recommend it.

I really like this kit. It came with everything I needed to do the install, aside from the tools and silicone caulk. The instructions were pretty good, the only thing I would warn anyone about is that to mount the slider bar correctly (large part of hole has to be facing up). Otherwise you may have to remove it and turn it over. The instructions did not mention that you had to be sure the large hole was facing up. The kit is inexpensive because some of the parts are made of chrome plated plastic. This isn't bad, since they all work and look fine. The advantage of the slider bar is that if you are tall/short, you can set the height to fit your needs. The sprayer head detaches for added convenience. I converted a tub into a shower only setup. I could have just as easily converted it into a tub/shower but since I wasn't going to use the tub, I opted for a shower only install. During my install, I ran into one problem. It wasn't due to the shower or mounting parts, it was due to wall construction of my home. I live in a mobile home so, the sheetrock isn't as thick as it is in conventional homes. So when I tried to use the small molly bolts that come with the kit, one of them spun out and had to be replaced. I used a larger molly bolt and that fixed the problem. Be sure to follow all of the manufactures instructions, especially in sealing all holes you make in the wall.

Keep in mind I got this to install in my camper. I removed my low quality shower wand that comes with campers and upgraded to this really nice shower wand. It so easy to install anyone can do it. Just follow the easy to read instructions. It has three distinct sprays that will give you a wide coverage. It has a 60" hose that easily reaches down to connect it to your spigot. It is made of plastic and not metal except the rod. But that shouldn't matter in a shower application.

The shower head was not difficult to install, but I was disappointed that it doesn’t bend forward to offer much adjustment.

I am looking for a solid ada approved slide bar, the holders are plastic so I am not sore how long the week last the bar is steel but I am looking for stronger bar that can be used to hold on as well

It has a nice appearance and works well, but maybe I didn't put on the spout correctly since it drips.

The shower bar is great. We bought a Water Pic similar design and had to return it due to problems with leakage. When I called their help line the person didn’t answer my questions and ended up hanging up on me.
