A nice, kinda fancy look and easy to install. Soft close still works even after almost a year. One of the pads came off (see photo) pretty early and I was disappointed since Kohler a premium brand in my opinion. About a week ago I noticed the light was out. When I took apart (yes, you have to take it apart to change the batteries) it was corroded pretty bad in there. Battery lug corroded through and stained the toilet itself. Cleaned it up and now I just have a soft close with no light. Consider that when purchasing.

We love it!!
Its the little things that matter! This little blue light is bright enough where you don’t need a bright night light to see for those of you who like to sleep in darkness. It’s sensory operated so when It’s evening time the blue light automatically comes on

Nice seat but, it has a hinge problem and the light battery connector gets rusted.
Bad things about it:
1. The hinge gets really hard to operate after a while, specially under low temperatures (60 Degree Fahrenheit) . You must keep your bathroom at 80 for it to operate like new or it will break. Mine broke.
2. The light has a battery holder that is exposed to humidity and the connectors will rust and eventually break, rendering it useless (you can't install a new battery, because connector tab rusted away).
3. Light is very dim on my ice grey color bowl, Kohler should tell customer that this works better in a white bowl (my opinion).
4. Warranty expires 1 year after you place the order, therefore is less than a year considering that you receive it at a later day via snail mail. I have had it for exactly a year.
Good thing about it:
It is elegant, nice finish and color matches your toilet bowl color tone.

Hinge broke after 2 years
This seat has 2 cylinders in the hinge that slow down the closing of rim and lid. It seems like the substance inside this mechanism (cylinders) starts to dry and it gets harder and harder until tabs tabs that hold the seat to the toilet can not take the stress and break.

Defective material used
We've been using this seat for about 9 months and we like it , until the one side of the actual seat broke on a half pinching us in our b...ts.
We weights about 180 lbs. so there was no excessive pressure on it.

Not worth the price
We have had this toilet for quite awhile and I finally decided to replace the batteries since it had stopped working awhile ago. The battery case is completely TOAST - it is corroded and filled with liquid. I guess I would have hoped that the case would be better protected as we bought it for two little boys to have a night light for post bedtime bathroom runs. I removed the battery case and threw it away. I reinstalled the toilet lid without it so now I feel like I have a very expensive toilet lid without the extra features it was meant to come with.

Too Many Issues For The Price
The premium features this seat offers do not live up to the price nor the Kohler name.
Battery life of "6 to 12 months is quite a stretch even with efficient batteries.
When the batteries do run down, a red light flashes which has caused awkward situations on more than one occasion when our guests asked us if we had a camera in the toilet. Really!
The quiet close lid is a nice feature, however, when sitting on the seat, it makes loud plastic on porcelain creaking sounds due to the inability of securing the seat tightly.
Securing the seat tightly is very tricky with a very small tolerance of error....if you over tighten the bolts by just a half turn or so, you are unable to have the seats Quick-Attach® clips slide into place and cannot close the hinge covers.
Likewise, if you leave bolts just a bit too loose, the seat will not be secure and will move around, and occasionally, the seat itself will un-clip from the toilet.
The "Grip-Tight bumpers" will not hold the seat in place.
The two brightness levels are pointless as the highest setting is just barely bright enough.
The 7 hour illumination cycle is a bit of a joke considering the actual purpose of a nightlight seat....first, it's normally nighttime for more than 7 hours...second, many bathrooms have no window and are dark all the time...third, having to wait for the actual start time to activate the light is inconvenient at best.
Cleaning this seat presents a number of problems....there are many nooks and crannies around the hinge area that are impossible to clean without disassembling the seat and hinges.
Also, the part that houses the batteries, light and electronics has a lens that is permanently attached to the circuit board, and moisture gets inside and deposits and mildew build up which are not possible to clean. (see attached photo)
The nightlight itself has long since failed and all we get is a dim, steady red light that does not substitute for the blue nightlight.
While writing this review, I jumped over to the Amazon reviews and I see others have expressed the same issues.
As you can now see, we are very disappointed in this seat for many justified reasons
I once reached out to Kohler, but without proof of purchase, they were of no help.
This purchase has proved to be a waste of money, and makes me question the Kohler brand name which I always trusted in the past.
