great concept extremely displeased
I bought this a few months ago, three tops. Since I'm pregnant I thought the light would help me for going to the bathroom multiple times a night as well as my kids. Honestly I love this feature.
The other reason we purchased this seat (which cost almost as much as the entirety of or toilet) was for the easy clean feature! I love that you can pop the lid off and on easily. When it worked. After a month of use one of the sides won't release and I can no longer lift the seat off to clean. Which is EXTREMELY irritating. Since thats the biggest difference between this seat and a 15.00 seat and a 3.00 nightlight.

Hi Aldora, this is Sarah with Kohler Customer Service. I'm very sorry to hear your Cachet toilet seat is not coming off in the Quick-Release as it should. To engage the Quick-Release feature, you must open both of the hinge covers. Once the covers are raised, the seat can be pulled towards the user to remove from the bowl. Please email us directly at KohlerCustServ@kohler.com for additional assistance. We are here to help! -Sarah S. Kohler Customer Service

I love how this top looks and feels just slightly disappointed that the led it not as bright as I though it would be. Even on high it’s too light. Pictures in the dark show brighter than it really is.

As of now I would recommend no b/c my nightlight no longer works. As a disclaimer, let me tell you that I never took off the toilet seat to clean around there as I didn’t know how to & too lazy to look it up. Finally today I got around to this chore. I found the instructions & my receipt which shows I bought it 2 years ago lol.
Anyway today I did a deep cleaning & took the battery pack off, put new batteries in, but light no longer works. I see blue inside there in the panel, so probably cleaning liquid got in there & ruined the panels. So even w/ maintenance being timely done, I don’t know how you would avoid that problem.
Called Kohler, they literally have a message that we can’t take calls right now & go online. And then hangs up. Luckily, it was easy to look up the seat on their website, & so now I have ordered a new light kit which was $26. So, you have to think about this. I ordered this time and will see if it works or not. Warranty is for 1 year so mine is not covered anymore.
I will update this review once I get the new lighting kit.
**. taking seat off is easy, just lift hinges in the back & pull seat forward. Then push back on.
Seat itself is comfortable, sturdy, and the auto-close is great.

I love this toilet seat. It looks nice. It was also very easy to install. It is quiet closing (no loud bang), and love the light blue glowing night that comes on each evening for 7 hours. I usually have it set to come in about 9pm so it is on until about 4am when I am half asleep when if I need to get up. Great if you have a male in the house who tends to leave the seat up. Allows you to see that so you don't fall in. Uses 4 AA batteries that last quite awhile before needing to change again. Just make sure not to clean with a lot of liquid that could make its way into the protective battery case. I had this exact toilet seat before and the person who installed cracked the protective casing, and though it lasted two years, the moisture was finally too much for it as the crack before bigger. Again, that wasn't a product quality problem, it was from the installer. I installed this one myself when I saw how easy it was. Perfect!

Great nite-lite, but quick-release c-clip type tabs need improvement. They just seem flimsy & hardly strong enough to last long, but are good for now. Time will tell I guess. Also, if your mounting holes in the toilet aren't just the exact right width apart, and/or the holes are too big as in my case, you will have to compensate like I did & buy SS fender washers & wingnuts & not use the supplied plastic wingnuts. Not Kohler's fault, of course, but this is why I said the c-clips don't want to clamp very tightly and will spread unless they are perfectly square with the mounting hardware. As for the nite-lite, I'm very happy with the glow. The pics are actually the lite on the lowest setting. Perfect. Love the idea that the batteries are supposed to last a year on the lowest setting.

Disappointed in this product
Was very disappointed in this product. The "night" light was not that bright when the lid was shut or the seat was down, so it was necessary to leave both the seat and cover up to get the full effect of the light.
In addition, the maintenance was more than expected. To power the light, a battery pack area was designed under the seat between the two areas where you attach the seat to the toilet base (where the bolts are). When cleaning, there is no way to get under the seat between the bolts.
We purchased this for our 7 year old, who still uses night lights and is a heavy sleeper. His aim is not that good in the middle of the night, so we are used to having to clean urine from around the bolt area and underneath the back of the seat. Once this seat was installed, that was impossible, and there was also urine that leaked into the battery pack area, making the batteries less than efficient and that area pretty nasty when time to change out.
Thank goodness we saved the old seat, since we changed back to it after a couple of months. I would not advise using for little ones that don't have the best aim. The light isn't that bright (we still used a regular night light) and the cleaning was more difficult. Once the novelty of the glowing blue light lost its appeal, we decided it wasn't worth keeping.

BriBri , This is Laura from Kohler Co. I am sorry you are disappointed with your Cachet Nightlight seat. We would like to send you a new hinge; it has been redesigned to eliminate the issue with moisture getting into the battery pack. Also, the new hinge has two settings for the brightness of the light. Please contact us at KohlerCustServ@Kohler.com. We look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, M. Laura K., KOHLER Customer Service
