is this seat removable for easy cleaning? if not which ones are and i need it in Ice Grey?

AnswersKathy, we just bought this seat recently and to answer your question the seat is NOT REMOVABLE for easy cleaning, however; it's still made very easy to clean around. The ones that are removable are given in their descriptions that are online on their website. To answer your other concern, it just so happens that the seat I ordered was in the ice grey and as I said in my comment, if you have purchased items in the ice grey 2 yrs or more ago on the past, keep on mind that they will be a little bit different color shade of ice grey now than before.

AnswersYes. The toilet seat is hard molded plastic. We replaced two seats a few years back with Kohler quiet close and have been very happy with them. absolutely no cracking, easy to to clean, in fact easy to remove the entire seat for thorough cleaning. This seat is great!

You will notice, with the colors, the price will change. The R4639-0 starts out around $34.98 currently on HomeDepot.com. This toilet seat was easy to assemble
and looks very nice as toilet seats go.....LOL. The only negative thing I have to say is that I purchased a bathroom sink from Home Depot a couple of years ago in the exact same color and when I got the toilet seat it was a little different shade of color than the sink and they were supposed to be identical. I went ahead and kept it anyway because even though they were different they were close enough for me to be satisfied, even though I was a little disappointed.

After exhaustive recon, driving to multiple Kohler dealers, determined porcelain color was "sandbar," ordered through HD who did their job commendably. Color of seats do not match porcelain and there is a lot of side play in the hinges, makes them feel cheap. At almost double the price of a regular toilet seat, you would figure they would be MUCH nicer. I will never again buy Kohler products. Between discontinued colors, inadequate knowledge by ANYONE regarding color codes, and now colors that clearly do not match, you have lost my business.

Awful design. The seat looks like it came out of a nursing home, it's extremely high with extra space between each section. The seat itself has a strange design like a funnel which makes it uncomfortable to sit on. It's like flushing $50 down the toilet.

scratch the surface when cleaning it, even with a paper towel. Use a soft cloth and water, no abrasives.

Another Cracked Seat

Used in a vacation home guest bath -- maybe 50 times in the past 4 years -- this seat has developed a crack through the entire seat. Whether it is a design flaw or a manufacturing problem, it doesn't matter: toilet seats should not fail in this way.
Out of warranty, the best Kohler could do is offer a discount on a replacement. I declined. It makes no sense to spend even $1 on a defective product. Reading about all of the other people who have had the exact same problem, I think it is best for Kohler to spend their money on engineering instead of trying to deal with customer claims.

Seat cracked after a couple of uses

I am 150 lbs. After using the seat a few times, I leaned over to get some toilet paper, and the seat cracked. It looks like a defect as the seam of the plastic is on the left side of the toilet seat where most weight is being applied. I check my other bathrooms and noticed that the seam is more towards the front where there is less weight. Either way, I do not recommend this at all. It is quite sad to pay almost $60 for a seat that is so poorly made.
