I put this in a #11748-ks-na. Dont know about the valves.a plumbing supply house should be able to tell you this very quickly.
Did you check your setting? You can control this with the settings for the maximum temperature. It is inside the mixer cap.
Make sure the O-rings are in the right position in the back of the valve. I had the same problem, and when I took it apart to replace the mixer, there was an O-ring laying there. I put it back together, (with some dielectric silicone to hold the O-rings) and all was well!
I will assume your statement that hot water will not shut-off, means you are only getting maximum hot water with no cold. After installing my unit I had to adjust the temperature setting, test the water temperature and reset if necessary. I performed this several times until I obtained the maximum hot water setting I desired for the shower. At this point I reassembled the shower controls and it has worked perfectly since then.
Hi pj, my name is Sarah with KOHLER Customer Service. I'm glad to answer your question. This part comes as one piece (with the springs and spring covers already installed and contained). Thank you for choosing KOHLER.
Yes. Unless you have a shut off valve for just this faucett.
This is exactly what I had to do. Kohler had a bad design in the original part [mixer cap], and has redesigned it. The replacement part if $50. and an easy fix..I bought both pieces because for another $40, I did not want the newly designed one to conflict with the original cartridge for the pressure balancing unit.
Replace the "o" rings on both the valve and pressure regulator and use some silicone grease on the "o" rings before installation.
It was very easy to install but I really believe that once the o ring needed replacing but the associate was not knowledgeable enough to assist me.
If your leak is at the shower head you need to replace the Cartridge Spool for Pressure Balancing that goes inside the valve housing. It is best if they are replaced as a unit, spool and cap. However, the water to the house needs to be turned off for this repair so it is important to have the correct parts on hand. If you call Kohler they will be able to help identify the proper part numbers and then you can go to Home Depot and get the correct assembly. If there is any question, buy both styles and return the one you don't need. I just completed this repair and it was simple once I had the right parts.
