Are the edges of the glass on the mirror sealed? Will the coating come off and make the mirror edge dark? I have seen mirrors where the back coating peels or something causing the mirror to not reflect in those areas?

You would not be required to purchase a "special" bracket. We do offer side mirrors that would need to be purchased to cover up the sides of the cabinet when surface mounted. Great design, flawed wiring design in early examples.

We've had this cabinet for about five years now, Great look for our bath and we like the adjustable glass shelves and other nice features. But like many others who've posted reviews, both wired connections to the built-in door lights have failed near or adjacent to the connectors due to repetitive stress from opening and closing of the doors. I've temporarily fixed one with electrical tape but the other will require further work. According to recent reviews on this page, the newer connector addresses this problem but apparently isn't compatible with the original doors' male wiring connectors. I suggest seeking out a showroom with a floor model to examine before ordering this cabinet, and confirming that your cabinet includes the updated connector prior to installation (see the wiring connector shown on the service parts page). We also have intalled a smaller model in another bathroom and have not encountered the wiring problem yet.

Embarassing quality control

Lots of reviews about the lights wearing out, in fairness they updated the lighting component, so the component that wires into the lights has been redesigned and has a 90-degree connector that looks sturdier than int he pictures. However, I can't attest to the reliability of the lights because the moment I turned on the lights after this was installed, there was an immediate obvious defect in one of the lights, it looks like you can see the adhesive they used to secure the led lights, smeared all over the inside of the light diffusor. Is there no quality control at the factory? No one can be bothered to turn it on and check for this extremely obvious defect? Considering this issue and other reviews, not sure I can trust Kohler to do anything involving electricity.

Problems with rust/de-silvering

IT WILL RUST/DE-SILVER. Though this looks beautiful at first, the edges started deteriorating after a year of use. We were not expecting to have to replace a Kohler product within a few years. It was so disappointing to see, given the cost of the unit.

Moisture is the main cause of mirror desilvering, and using Vinegar-based cleaners or cleaners containing ammonia can accelerate the desilvering process. For cleaning, we recommend wiping down steam/water droplets and using our Kohler Faucet Cleaner or a mixture (50/50 solution) of water and isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. Pros and Cons

I purchased this medicine cabinet as a replacement for an identical one that failed several times. I have had problems with installation: the electricians can't follow the instructions about the main light switch being a rheostat. The wiring channel inside the center also never seems to be installed correctly because it is too small to contain the wires/connections. I had to replace the side door on my original unit because the wiring wore out after three years of normal use - I hope the redesign is sturdier but I am afraid to store anything in the side sections for fear of wearing out the wiring again. Finally, the interior mirror is worse than useless for makeup application because when the face is positioned close to the mirror all the light is blocked. On the positive side, the unit is very bright and I don't need a separate light fixture to light the room.

Everything worked but glue and bulb strip showed through light in the right hand strip on front of mirror It was difficult to put in as well

Am very pleased with this Kohler Verdura Medicine cabinet. It updated the bathroom look immediately. We installed it on the wall so you can see the unfinished sides. Since this bathroom is so small you hardly notice since one side is unseen close to a wall and the other only visible when standing behind the closed door. I can see in a larger bathroom having installed not recessed it would be an eyesore to some. The optional side mirrors you can purchase screw into holes on the unit on both sides. I have seen online some people make a finished piece on wood to install in this area if the side mirrors are not something you care for and use the holes for the mirrors to do so. The quality of the glass and mirrors is exceptional. You can see yourself so clearly. This is the same for the mirror on the front of the door, the rear of the door, and then also for the mirror behind the shelves inside the cabinet. Was easy to install hanging on the wall. Comes with mounting strip bracket you install on the wall then hang the cabinet onto it. With the width of the strip you are able to attach the bracket to at least one wall stud for a solid mounting. Would highly recommend this medicine cabinet.

Looks Great, Works Terribly — $1,000 System Dead in a Year. Add $600 to the list price for replacement costs.

I remodeled my bathroom in 2023 with what I believed were premium Kohler amenities. It’s now 2025—just past the one-year warranty—and the LED lights in the system have already failed. Considering how lightly it was used, and the fact that LEDs are supposed to last tens of thousands of hours, the build quality here is shockingly poor. As other reviews have noted, this appears to be a clear manufacturer defect. And here’s the most frustrating part: replacement parts cost over $600. Here’s the math: • You spend over $1,000 on the system • It fails after 1 year • You’re expected to pay another 60%+ just to keep it working That’s unacceptable. Kohler offered me a slight discount on the replacement parts, but the math doesn’t math. A product at this price point should last far longer. I now have an expensive dud of a mirror—and a firm decision to never choose Kohler products again.

Have a fix for the lighted mirror

Bought this mirror for specific reason of the lighting capability after one year it stopped working. I quickly found the reason as the constant opening and closing had stressed the strands of the light gauge wires attached to the connector. I'm rather handy and soon trouble shot the problem. I can't believe the engineers at Kohler can't see this as a design flaw and remedy this obvious issue. I'm a problem solver. contractor and closet electrical guru and figured I could remedy this issue. I know that a printer has ribbon tape that gets constant and repeated use that carry low voltage to the printer heads and internal working components, so I used that same logic and tore an old non-working HP printer apart and used the ribbon tape and connectors to solve the design oversight. See the pictures.. It isn't that pretty but it works and won't break anytime soon!

Pros and cons

Overall, this medicine cabinet mirror is higher quality than some others I checked out. It looks good, is functional, the doors close softly and it holds a lot. However, I am disappointed that the little round make-up mirror is not magnified and I had to insert putty into the slot so it's won't slide down. In retrospect, I think I paid too much for it.
