Can these units be used in a Basement?
It can be used in a finished basement. Not an unfinished unconditioned dusty basement open to the outside air.
What does the Photoelectric sensor do?
Hello. The photoelectric sensor picks up smoke. It shines two different light and when there is enough smoke that the lights both light up the smoke and the light is reflected to the light sensor, the smoke alarm goes off for smoke.
My Kidde Model i0910 died. Will this alarm fit on the same mount on the ceiling that my previous one had?
Hello. No, it will have a different bracket and a different placement of the screws. It is exactly for this reason we are transitioning to a universal bracket for most of our alarms so that different alarms won't have different brackets and that future alarms won't have different brackets. We fully admit we had different brackets for different alarms previously.

When the end-of-life alarm sounds, can it be silenced? It might be several days before the alarm can be replaced. If it can be silenced, does it reset and alarm again after a predetermined period of time? If so, what is that period?
Hello. Yes! Push Test/Hush button once to silence for 24 hrs. (Push Test/Hush button again to clear HushTM and perform a test.) Note: 7 days after End of Unit Life begins, the notifications cannot be silenced.

Hello. No, this alarm is battery only and is not wireless.
Does it come with batteries already in package?
Hello. The batteries are built into the alarm itself on the motherboard. You activate the battery on the back of the alarm or by putting the alarm on the mounting bracket.
Kidde sealed lithium smoke detector : Is this model i9010? This is the ONLY one wanted
No. The I9010 is not made anymore as it doesn't meet the updated UL code and standards. This is the new version, the 20SD10-V, a 9th edition UL 217 version with photoelectric plus firmware sensor. The I9010 may still be available as the 21008067 if there is any left.
